All known glitches and how to use them

Although Overpainted looks as a very consistent game, its level selection screen is very glitchy and some glitches can be done thanks to that. None of them are not allowed in the glitchless category, but can be used freely in the glitched category. In this guide i'm going to explain all of them and how they can be used in your own profit.

Before starting i'm going to explain some key concepts about the game. Each level can be divided in two parts: the design (which consist of the position of platforms, enemies, the portal, etc) and the properties (which includes the number of the level, the level loaded when the portal is reached and the music). Under normal circumstances, each level have always the same design and properties. Despite this, some glitches allow you to change the design or the properties of a level. A level will be considered to be completed if the properties are correct, ignoring which is the design. To know which are the properties of a level without opening the menu, you have to check to which level are you warped at the end of the level (after enetring the portal). This is also the criteria used to verify if a run is correct or not.

Known gliches:

**(Old) Wrong Warp Glitch / WWG **
This was the first glitch discovered. To do it you have to press the menu button and just as you rech the level selections screen you must press the number of a level a lot of times (as fast as you can). It is not very reliable, so it might take a few tries to get it. When done correctly, the properties of the level will be correct, but the design will be the one of 20 levels further. For example, if you do the glitch in level 1, the properties will be of the level 1 but the design will be the one of level 21. This glitch does not work in heart chapter, chapter V or when you haven't cleared the level positioned 20 positions further. There are not many places where it is worth to do the glitch, being level 29 the most obvious one. None of the gurrent glitched runs use this glitch because the new WWG overclass it.

** Wrong teleport glitch / WTG **
There is not many information about this one, basically because it has no practical use. It works the opposite way of WWG: keeps the design of the selected level but changes the properties to the ones of the level positiones 20 further. To know if this glitch worked, check if the music changed.

**(new) Wrong Warp Glitch/new WWG**
The most powerful glitch discovered. This glitch allows the player to change the design of a level to the one of any level in the chapter with a really high reliability. To do it, you have to press the number of the level you want the design and immediately press the level which has the properties you want. The audio helps allow you to know when this glitch is done properly: If you hear the sound of the level being pressed twice, then the glitch worked. This glitch can be done to change the design of every level in a chapter with the one of the fastest level, which is incredibly effective.

**Clone Level Glitch/CLG**
This glitch appears when you enter a level with the same design than the one you just ended (to do this, use the new WWG in the previous level). When the new room is loaded, the game will think you just entered the portal, and will load the next level in about 1 second.

Chapter 1 any% sub 4min

For this category, the first ten levels have to be done under 1m10. They arn't very difficult but they can easily be opptimized. If you don't know how to, you can see how I do it in my run.
Here, I'll advice you for each next level :
  11 : make a double jump between the 3 middle square 
  12 : before it begins, push the left button for earn 2-3s, it could be helpful
  13 :  this is the worst level of this run. To begin, do a double jump. Then, wait on the left side of the stake and kill the monster. Go up without dying and wait for the monster goes on the right side of his platform and go on without jumping. Kill the monster. Go on the middle of the platform and jump over there to the portal.
  14 : let you falling down and go kill the monster. Do a simple jump for continue to the left. There, kill the monster at the right side of the area.
  15 : go on the left and double jump where the monster is and kill it. After having killed the 2nd monster, wait for the square platform and double jump on it.
  16 : do a double jump to go to the platform where the monster is.
  17 : before it begins, push the left button and kill both of the left monsters without jumping. Do the almost same at the right but start by killing the monster at the top.
  18 (skip) : when it starts, go normaly on the left and kill the monster. Then, the skip ; before the platform comes back, let you fall just above the pikes and do and second jump (this part is a bit tricky so practice it several Time before running). Finish normaly the level.
  19 : double jump to the left, kill the monster and do the same at the right
  Boss : do double jumps at the center to find the piking flying ball. Go the left corner and double jump when it comes. Do the same at the right but double jump over the flying ball. The same at the 3rd time. Then, do the same as the first charge for the 2 following ones and rush to the portal at the 5th charge and finish the run.
