1. Initial Setup

This is a guide to help you with the inital setup you need to do when starting to run Stranger's Wrath HD:

**1.** To begin with, if you are running ***No Ghost*** or ***NMG*** categories, you will need to ***cap the framerate to 60 and display the framerate*** on your capture. The frame limiter in the launcher of the game doesn’t actually do anything. This means you will need a third party app to do so. The one I suggest to use is ***Riva Tuner Statistics Server***. This allows you to cap the framerate of one specific program and also to display the framerate. You can find a link to it in the resources section under tools.
The first time you’ll launch the program, you will only have the global application. You could use this to cap the framerate of Stranger’s Wrath but this will also apply to everything else in your computer. To have the cap applying only to Stranger’s Wrath, you will need to add the .exe of the game in the application list. To do it, click on the Add button and look for the game’s folder then get inside the bin and select ***stranger.exe***.

From here you can simply copy/paste my settings, with these you will have the framerate cap set up and the display of the framerate enabled.  (you can change the color and the size of the framerate display as long as it's still readable)

I chose to start it with windows, that way I don't have to worry about it at all. If you want to do the same, I recommend that you check the Setup section and make sure ***Start minimized*** is enabled.

**2.** If you haven’t finished the game on your computer already, had to delete your save folder, or whatever else, you might not be able to skip cutscenes. This is due to a file in your save folder that gets updated the first time you finish the game. But don’t worry, you don’t really have to finish the game. In the resources section, under saves there are 2 files you can download:

- The 1st one, from HuhnerSpeed, is the standalone version of the file you can download and put in your save folder.
- The 2nd, from me, is a save folder that contains the same file as the previous one and also saves made at the start of each individual level.
Now you need to find your save folder. It will be located in ***Documents\Oddworld\Stranger’s Wrath HD***.

Here, if you chose to download the save folder, you can delete the one you already have and replace it with the one you downloaded. If you went for the standalone file, you can simply place it inside your save folder.

**3.** Now the settings in the launcher.

You can set this up as you wish but there are things to keep in mind:

- You really need to to ***disable vegetation*** otherwise navigating the out of bounds will be much harder.
- For both ***Language*** and ***Audio*** you can pick whichever you want, none of them is faster than the others.
- You should disable pretty much every options if you want the most stable framerate (especially if you’re running Any% Unrestricted as you need at least 200fps to do the ghost glitch)

**4.** Let’s now focus on the livesplit setup. We use ***IGT*** as the main timing methode (it’s actually time without loads but whatever). To get the load times removed from your timer you will need to have the autosplitter active (you don’t necessarily have to use the auto splitting feature but ***the file must be active***). To set this up, simply right click on your LiveSplit and select ***Edit Splits*** then search for Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath.
Once you’ve selected the game, a line “Autosplitter and IGT for Steam and GOG versions of the game” will automatically appear.

Make sure to press the ***Activate*** button. Now you have the load time remover active.
The last thing you have to set up is the comparison. Again, right click on your LiveSplit and go into ***Compare Against***.

Select **Game Time**. This will pause your timer whenever you are in a loading screen.

**5.** As mentioned above, there’s an autosplitter you can use. It is very important that you have ***the correct amount of splits*** for the category you are running, otherwise the final split will either happen too early or never happen. But how to know how many splits you need? You don’t really need to know. In the resources tab, under the Splits section there’s a file you can download called Splits for the autosplitter. The file contains splits files for every category with already the correct amount of splits and the autosplitter set up. The splits already have names but you can change them if you want. The only important thing is to ***avoid adding or removing splits*** ! Also keep in mind that the autosplits are set up with the current fastest routes in mind. This means that depending on what you’re doing differently, autosplits might happen on weird spots or not at all.

**6.** Here’s a quick overview of the autosplitter if you want a better understanding of what you’re using. There are 4 main tabs:

- Full Game Categories:

You have to select ***both*** the ***category*** and the ***restriction*** of the run you are doing.

Select the level you are running. There’s the possibility to enable multiple splits for some levels. The ones concerned by this have splits files already set up in the Splits for the autosplitter file in the resources section.

These won't be useful for speedruns but more for challenge runs. You can have a speedometer, deaths, hits and moolah counters. They will automatically show up in your layout once enabled if the game is running.

- Refresh rate of the autosplitter:

That’s how many times per seconds the autosplitter checks the memory of the game to see if certain events have happened. If you are encountering performance issues while running the autosplitter, you can lower the refresh rate but beware that setting up a very low value will result in less accuracy of the autosplitter and the load time remover.

**7.** Finally let’s talk about a tool you can use for practice. It’s called the ***F.A.R.T.S. Machine***, it has been developed by HuhnerSpeed. You will find it in the resources section under  tools. Once you’ve started the program and attached it to the game, those 3 settings will appear:

You can use ***invincibility*** and ***infinite ammo*** to make your practice more comfortable. The ***super jump*** won’t be very useful for practice, but if you want to look for new strats, this can help.

2. Glitches

All the major and minor glitches (used or not) we currently know.

## **Ghost**

This allows Stranger to walk through walls.

***How to do:*** Simply walk into a wall in 1st person with a framerate of at least 200fps.

***Good to know:***

- Need to have a framerate of at least 200 fps for it to work but also you need your framerate to not be too high otherwise it won’t work because Stranger will just be stuck in place.
- Can only be done in 1st person
- Not all walls can be ghosted.
- If you want to know if your pc can sustain a stable 200 fps minimum every time you’ll need it, simply load a save at Last Legs and try to do the ghost used in the Any% Unrestricted speedrun. Last Legs is the place where you need to ghost and will experience the biggest framerate drops, so if it works perfectly, this means you will be able to do every ghost in the game.

## **Boombat Jump**

This is similar to the grenade jumps or rocket jumps you can see in other games. This allows Stranger to jump higher.

***How to do:*** Shoot a boombat and place Stranger on top before it explodes.

***Good to know:***

- If you shoot the boombat at your feet, do not press the spacebar to make the 1st jump otherwise Stranger will ignore the boombat’s explosion. The 1st jump will be done by the boombat’s explosion itself.
- If you shoot the boombat on a wall then you will have to jump on it with the correct timing to be on top once it explodes to have your momentum redirected in the desired direction.
- Once the boombat jump is done, you can still make a double jump if you are still in 1st person camera.

## **Boombat Buffer**

This is used to allow Stranger to shoot boombats at a faster rate, allowing multiple boombat jumps in row to reach higher places.

***How to do:*** Simply open the ammunition menu between shots. In this menu, the whole game is paused except the crossbow. This means that the effective time between 2 boombat shots is reduced.

***Good to know:***

- It is limited by the amount of ammo you have in your magazine.
- Opening the ammunition menu doesn’t cancel the animation that plays between 2 shots. It only allows the animation to play while the game is paused. So make sure to spend enough time in the ammunition menu before closing it.
- This glitch isn’t required if you buy the boombat loader at the Black Market.

## **Reload Transfer**

This allows Stranger to reload his crossbow while the ammunition menu is opened. This is used in conjunction with the boombat buffer to allow for more than triple boombat jumps. With this you are not limited by the size of your magazine, but by the total amount of boombats you have.

***How to do:*** Here’s a step-by-step list of what to do:

1. Empty the magazine of an ammo. (you need to have enough ammo left to reload it).
2. Do not let the game automatically reload it by equipping something else on the same spot (can be an ammo or a blank spot)
3. Shoot at least 1 boombat. You can shoot more. The important thing to keep in mind is that you need to shoot at least 1 and have at least 1 left in your magazine.
4. Open the ammunition menu and equip the ammo you previously equipped in place of the boombat. This will trigger a reload within the ammunition menu.
5. Before this reload animation is done, equip the boombat back on the same spot.
6. The reload animation won’t be interrupted and will be applied to the boombat.

***Good to know:***

- On step one, we usually do it with an ammo that can contain only 1 ammunition at a time as it is faster to empty. But it can be done with every other ammunition as well.
- The speed of the reload on step 5 is based on the reload speed of the ammunition with which you triggered the glitch.
- On step 4, you need to open the ammunition menu before the next shot is ready to fire.
- If you do this correctly, the ammunition with which you triggered the reload transfer won’t be reloaded. Meaning that you can repeat the steps 3 to 6 as many times as needed.
- An ammunition that is equipped will be automatically reloaded at some point. This means you need to set the reload transfer up when you will actually be using it.
- In the example I used the reload transfer on the boombat, but it works on any other ammunition aswell.
- The reload transfer will fail if the ammunition you're trying to reload is ready to be fired. It works only if the crossbow is loading the next shot.

## **Rope Launch**

This glitch allows you to launch Stranger in the air. It happens when Stranger tries to grab a rope and between the rope and him stands an indestructible and immovable object. Stranger will collide with this obstacle and be stuck in this state. The game won’t directly understand that the rope cannot be reached and will therefore try to brute force to make Stranger reach the rope by giving him momentum every frame during the collision.
This momentum accumulation can be interrupted in 2 ways:

1. The game “realizes” that the rope cannot be reached and releases Stranger with all the momentum stored.
2. The player switches to 1st person camera to interrupt the accumulation earlier.

***How to do:*** Move towards the rope with an obstacle on the way. Once close to the obstacle, jump then press the interaction key “Ctrl by default” while having directional input in the direction of the rope. This will start the momentum accumulation phase. Then choose either of the 2 ways of interruption mentioned above to launch Stranger in the air.

***Good to know:***

- The higher the framerate, the faster the momentum will be stacked.
- The bigger the distance between Stranger and the rope, the more momentum will be stacked on each frame.
- You can initiate the momentum accumulation phase in both 1st or 3rd person cameras.
- You can initiate the momentum accumulation phase from further away in 3rd person camera.
- The surface on which you are colliding during the momentum accumulation phase will have an impact on the angle of the projection you get.
- The position of Stranger relative to the part of the rope he is trying to grab will have an impact on the angle of the projection you get.
- Letting the game automatically end the momentum accumulation phase will have an impact on the angle of the projection you get. This will usually tend to launch Stranger more horizontally.
- When you are in the momentum accumulation phase, the altitude of Stranger gets updated, meaning that you can avoid the splatter animation, when falling from a really high place, using a rope launch.

## **One Shot Bounties on Bosses**

What we mean in one shot bounties is instantly capturing a boss alive. There are multiple way of doing so. Depending on the boss you are facing, there might only be one technique working. Also, not all bosses can be one shotted.

***How to do:*** There are 2 main strats:

1. Bolamite one shot: This ammunition isn’t supposed to work on bosses, but in fact it works on Floy, Looten Duke and Jo Momma. Nothing special here, simply shoot the Bolamite at the boss and bounty them.
2. Animation stacking with a Stunkz: This one is more tricky to understand. As for the Bolamite, the Stunkz isn’t supposed to work on bosses, and it actually doesn’t unless you use it to stack multiple animations at the same time on the boss. If the boss is supposed to have 2 animations running at the same time, this will open a small window to instantly bounty the boss alive. There are 4 main types of animation you can use:

1. The vomiting animation caused by the Stunkz
2. The spinning animation caused by a punch in first person camera
3. The animations from the boss themselves. Mainly the get up animation, the attack animation and the interaction animation
4. The little jump they make when directly hit by a Stunkz

***Good to know:***

- You will always need to use the Stunkz, but you can combine it with any of the 3 other animations as long as they can be applied to the boss.
- It is possible with some bosses to trigger a get up animation using a bolamite.

## **Rocket Boost**

Its use is similar to the boombat jump, but instead of using a boombat you will be using an enemy turret’s missile.

***How to do:*** You need to be in the air when the missile hits Stranger.

## **Splatter Animation Cancel**

On places where you have to fall and crash on the ground, and the game places the camera at a spot that is not the 1st person or the 3rd person camera, you can cancel the animation of Stranger crashing on the ground.

***How to do:*** Switch the camera to the 1st person camera before crashing on the ground.

***Good to know:***

- It is super hard to do.
- The timing for the camera switch is really precise (probably close to frame perfect).
- It doesn’t save an insane amount of time so you probably don’t need to put hours of practice into it early on.
- You can always try to go for it in runs as missing it won’t cost any time.

## **Random Collisions**

In some places in the game you can land on sort of random pieces of collision when jumping inside corners.

***How to do:*** Position yourself in a corner and spam jump until it works.

***Good to know:***

- This is completely random.
- It works better the higher the frame rate is.
- In some places it will work only with a really high frame rate.

## **Quick Saves to Skip Text Boxes**

You can skip a text box earlier using the quicksave instead of the key the game tells you to press.

***How to do:*** Quick save whenever a text box appears on the screen.

***Good to know:***

- You can do it as soon as the textbox appear
- The text box will still be displayed on screen for a few seconds, but you will have control of Stranger.
- If you do it with a text box during a cutscene it will crash the game

## **Quick Saves to Bring The Shop With You**

Quick saving while the shop is opened will give you back control of Stranger while having the shop still displayed on the screen. You can bring this wherever you want and when you want to buy someting, open the amunition menu, this will allow you to navigate the shop.

***Good to know:***

- You can get rid of the shop using a quick load.
- Having the shop opened will make navigating much harder as you can't see through it.

## **Boombat Jumping Out of a Minecart**

This allows you to move freely while a minecart autoscroller is playing.

***How to do:*** Shoot a boombat inside the minecart while getting inside it. This will start the autoscroller but you will be able to move.

***Good to know:***

- You are not able to switch to 3rd person camera until the minecart reaches it's destination.
- If you go to far away of the area where the autoscroller is playing, the minecart will disappear and with it your ablility to switch camera. Resluting in a softlock.

## Zombie Glitch

This allows to kill Stranger without him actually dying.

***How to do:*** Stranger needs to be killed during a cutscene by something that instantly kills him. During a cutscene Stranger can't die, but his body can still be destroyed.

***Good to know:***

- In this state you are limited in terms of movement. 
- In 1st person camera you can't build speed in the air.
- In 3rd person camera you can't initiate movement using wasd, you need to dash or spam left click.
- It's not possible to preserve a sprint.
- You can still take hits and die.

## **Bunny Hop**

This allows you to build up and maintain higher speed than the maximum speed intended by the game.

***How to do:*** Jump as soon as you touch the ground.

***Good to know:***

- Can be done in both 1st and 3rd person cameras.
- You will only gain speed with a bunny hop when it is done on a downward slope.
- Doing it on flat terrain will maintain the extra speed you built.
- On an upward slope, it will reduce the amount of speed you lose.
- On an upward slope, if you don’t have enough speed, bunny hopping will slow you down much harder than simply running up the slope.

## **Climbing Ropes**

Instead of regularly climbing the ropes, in the speedrun we jump off the rope and catch it back, repeating this process as many times as required. This is faster than simple holding forward.

***How to do:*** While holding the rope, jump off it, and press the interaction key (ctrl by default) to catch it back.

***Good to know:***

- You can do it with a single or a double jump
- You must not be holding any direction while doing this otherwise you won’t be able to catch the rope again.

## **Initiating Movement as The Bounty Hunter**

When you start moving while in 3rd person camera, there are a few seconds where Stranger is accelerating. Once he has reached his top walking speed, he then starts sprinting. There’s a way to highly reduce the time needed for Stranger to transition from immobile to sprinting.

***How to do:*** Start your movement in 1st person camera and switch to 3rd person camera after a couple of steps. You will be sprinting once the camera transition is done. This works because in 1st person camera there is no acceleration, you press forward and you instantly get the maximum walking speed.

***Good to know:***

- Only hold forward when doing your couple steps in 1st person camera.
- The sprint you’ll get will vary in speed. Sometimes you’ll get a speed equivalent to the one you get after a couple of seconds sprinting, some other times you’ll get the regular speed of the start of the sprint. We currently don’t know why and how this happens.

## **Skipping Dialogues**

You can initiate a dialogue with a NPC and instanly interrupt it. The game will consider that you've reached the end of the dialogue and thus events linked to this dialogue will be triggered.

***How to do:*** Simply attack the NPC. We usually use the 1st person punch as it is quick and you are free to move while using it.

***Good to know:***

- This will work event if the punch doesn't hit the NPCs. They just need to be scared by it.

## **Making Sharp Turns While Sprinting**

There are 2 ways to turn. You can use the keyboard or the mouse. But when using only one of them, you are pretty limited in terms of the angle you make with your turn. But you can combine the 2 methods to make sharper turns.

## **Switching The Camera During a Jump**

When jumping with the 1st person camera, you can alter the jump by switching to 3rd person camera during it. Depending on which moment you make your switch, the alteration will be different. There are 2 main cases:

1. Switching directly after jumping forward: This will make the jump reach further away.
2. Switching directly after the double jump : This will make the jump reach a bit further up.

***Good to know:***

- You can also make the jump reach higher by using the headbut after the double jump.

## **Preserving Momentum from Moving Platforms**

When Stranger is on a moving platform and is going to exit this, you can keep the momentum you had on the platform by jumping before it reaches its end of its way.

## **Huhner Shot**

Called after the name of the first runner who did this, this allows you to shoot in the middle of a sprint without having to stop.

***How to do:*** During a sprint you can jump and switch to 1st person camera to shoot a couple of bullets. The important part to preserve the sprint is to get back to the 3rd person camera before landing on the ground. If done correctly, you will still be sprinting.

***Good to know:***

- If you feel like you are not going to be able to switch to the 3rd person camera on time, you can do a 1st person bunny hop to maintain your speed and then switch to the 3rd person camera.

## **Driving The Boat**

There are 2 ways to turn with the boat. You can either use the keyboard or the mouse.
In your casual playthrough you might have used the keyboard to turn. But it actually slows the boat much more than turning using the mouse.

***How to do:*** Hold forward direction and move the camera to modify the trajectory of the boat.

***Good to know:***

- This will take a bit of practice to get comfortable with this because it will feel like you are trying to turn while having ping.
- You can lock the position of the camera by holding X (It will still follow Stranger).

## **Collisions With Walls**

Depending on the camera you’re using while you’re hitting a wall, Stranger will interact differently.

1. If you are in 1st person camera, Stranger will glide on the wall.
2. If you are in 3rd person camera, Stranger will bonk on the wall. Bonking into a wall will redirect Stranger’s momentum.

***Good to know:***

- This also applies to NPCs and objets.
- You can avoid bonking into enemies and get stopped by jumping and switching to 1st person camera while you are running. (this process is similar to the Huhner Shot)

## **Fighting Gloktigies**

There’s a way to prevent Gloktigies from flying away after they’ve taken too much damage. Before getting into it, let’s describe their moveset:

- The spinning attack: This is the main attack they’re using when close to them
- The web attaque: They fire a bunch of webs in a random spread. It binds Stranger on the ground. While binded, Stranger takes continuous damage.
-  The trampling: Only happens when Stranger’s is binded and the Gloktigi is in melee range. This attack is very fast and deals a ton of damage. (only 3 hits required to kill Stranger from full health (when wearing the basic Steef armor)
- The escape: The Gloktigi turns to green and flies on the other side of the map while completely being immune to damage.

***How to do:*** To prevent a Gloktigi from flying away you simply have to jump on them while they are turning green. This will cancel the escape by triggering the spinning attack.

***Good to know:***

- When getting hit in 3rd person camera by a Gloktigi, you can’t move but you still can switch to 1st person camera to keep damaging them.
- If a Gloktigi is turning green while spinning, they will most likely fire webs even if you are in melee range.
- When they fire webs at you, they will adapt the shot based on your speed and the direction you're going, resulting in some sick preshots.

4. General Knowledge

# **General Knowledge**

Information that can help to better understand what is sometimes happening.

## **How the Map is Built**

You can think of the map as multiple cells linked by loading triggers. You must go through a loading trigger to load the next cell.

***Good to know:***

- The loading triggers are limited in space, meaning that if you are far away from where you are supposed to be, you might encounter their edge.
- What goes through the loading trigger determines what is loaded in the next cell.

1. The hitbox of Stranger loads the collisions of the next cell.
2. The camera loads the textures of the next cell.

- If you are in the situation where the textures are not loaded, you can simply fix this by quickly switching the camera. (this will only work if the hitbox of Stranger went through the loading trigger)

## **Event Triggers**

Throughout the game there are multiple invisible triggers that will spawn enemies or change the status of objects on the map. Some of these can be avoided to prevent some of those events to occur.

## **Fall Height Calculation**

To determine the height of a fall, the game will only look at the height you had when you left the ground and the one you have when you land. This explains why after some Rope Launches we don’t get any splatter animation, even if Stranger flew miles upwards.

## **Automatic Refill of Magazines**

After you fire some ammunition and don't reload it, you can switch to 3rd person camera and stay with this camera for a bit of time. If you spend enough time in 3rd person camera without ever going back into 1st, the next time you switch to 1st person camera all your currently equipped ammunition will be fully loaded.

## **Stranger Can't Move**

Sometimes, Stranger won't be able to start moving in 3rd person camera. You will encounter this situation only in unrestricted categories because it's an issue caused by high framerate.
There are 2 main ways to fix this. You can either:

- Switch to 1st person camera to start moving.
- Make a quick save. This will cause the framerate to briefly drop.

## **Invisible Ground**

There are some out of bounds places where it looks like there's no ground to walk on, but you can actually walk on an invisible surface without falling. Sometimes it's ground without texture because it's in a place we are not supposed to be, some other times it's the hitbox of something below that  actually extends further up than what it looks like.

## **Stranger and the Water**

Stranger can only swim on the surface of the water. If he is under the surface, the game will push him up until he reaches the surface.

***Good to know:***

- The water extends infinitely below the surface.
- This means that Stranger can enter the water from below the surface.

5. Practice Cheat Table

This is a cheat table with some usefull functions to help you practice or find strats

Here are the functions:

1. Infinite Health
2. Infinite Stamina
3. Unlimited Ammo
4. Freeze Timer
5. A pointer to your Moolah
6. Gravity Off
7. Position Tool

Below you'll find some explanations:

# 1. Infinite Health

This completely freezes Stranger's health meaning he can't die but also can't heal. It will also prevent Stranger from dying of death plans.

This can be used to easily trigger a Zombie Glitch aswell because Stranger's body can still be destroyed.

Known issue: *Destroying Stranger's body with a spinning fan will just freeze the screen. But you will still be able to quickload. The best way to destroy Stranger's body is with the falling boxes in the Wolwark Docks.*

## 2. Infinite Stamina

Works the same way as infinite health, stamina is completely frozen.

## 3. Unlimited Ammo

You don't use any of your total ammunition. Once enabled you will see a new line poping up called "Unlimited Magazine". This will prevent Stranger from spending ammunitions from his magazines. This can be disabled if you only want the unlimited ammo, but still having to reload.

Known issue: S*ome ammunitions will shoot way slower if Unlimited Magazine is on (especially wasps and upgraded stunkz). That's because their reload animation is much faster than the time between 2 shots from the same magazine.*

# 4. Freeze Timer

This will freeze the timer in the timed section juste before Sekto

# 5. Moolah

This is the only thing in the practice cheat table that doesn't need to be enabled. You simply need to double click on the number in the column "Value" and put the amount of Moolah you want to have.

# 6. Gravity Off

This will prevent Stranger from falling, meaning you will be able to run in the air. This by itself might not be very usefull, but it will help with one feature of the **Position Tool**.

Know issue: *When it's on, you are not able to jump or perform 3rd person melee attacks. Also the camera might not follow Stanger very well if he gains or loses too much altitude.*

# 7. Position Tool

This allows you to store coordinates and teleport back to them whenever you want.

There are 2 different methode to store coordinates:

1. Store the current coordinates of Stranger
2. Store the coordinates of where you are aiming at in 1st person

Both these methodes can be used at the same time because both set of coordinates are stored in different addresses.

A couple things to be noted:

1. The range of the coordinates you can store in 1 person depends on the max range your crosshair can turn red or green depending on what you are aiming at. So if you want to teleport far away, you will need to teleport, store the coordinates, teleport again, etc... That's for this kind of situation that the **Gravity Off** can be usefull.
2. If you have the binoculars, you can use them to store coordinates from further away.
3. Using coordinates you where aiming at to teleport will put Stranger inside the wall meaning that you can use it to go though walls.
4. I would recommend that you bind the save and store coordinates to your keyboard so you don't have to alt tab the game every time you want to storre coordinates or teleport. To do this simply right click on the line of the function you want to assigne a key to and select "Set Hotkeys". Then click on "Create Hotkey" and then enter the key you want to assigne in the 1st box. Once done, hit "Apply" and "OK". Don't forget to save the table once done so you don't have to do this again the next time.

Autosplitter/In-game timer Setup

The autosplitter works for every full game categories and Individual Levels.
Do keep in mind that this autosplitter has been made based on the current routes we use (on the 15.05.2022),
so any major change in the routes might resulte in the autosplitter not working anymore.
If it's the case or you're having issues with the autosplitter, you can contact Fxyz on discord (Fxyz#1329) and he'll figure a way to fix it.


Where to find the autosplitter and splitfiles?

	- The autosplitter is found directly **in LiveSplit** in the **"Edit Splits"** tab.
	- Splits files for the autosplitter can be found in the **resources** tab on **speedrun.com**


Now There are four settings you can set:

1. **Full Game Categories** : In this one select the category you are running (Uncheck this tab if you're running Individual Levels !!!)

	**!!! You will need to tick Both the category and the restriction of your run for the autosplitter to work !!!**

2. **Individual Levels**: 2 tabs in here:

	2.1. Splitting options: Select between 2 splitting methodes for IL (select only one !!!):
		2.1.1. Single split: only one split at the end of the level
		2.1.2. Multiple splits: adds some extra splits (when there are some, you can leave this checked even if the current level has only 1 split at the end)
	
	2.2. Levels: Select which level you're running (select only one !!!)

(uncheck the Individual levels tab if you're running a Full Game Category !!!)

3. **Refresh rate of the autosplitter** : Here you can select how many times per second the autosplitter checks for updates in the memory of the game. If you are experiencing performance issues, select a lower value, but keep in mind that a really low valeur will make the autosplitter less accurate.

This autosplitter has a built in load time remover, for it to work right click on your liveSplit window, select "Compare Against", then select "game time"

4. **Extra** : Some extra features I will add over the time (not usefull for speedrun).

General Information You Should Know About Stranger's Wrath - VERY outdated 

at this point this is only still here as a piece of history for the game, it has come a long way since this one posted in 2016. join the discord for up to date information on this game and ask any of the current runners anything, they will happily help you. this is the final update that will be made here (9-14-23)

As of 2-5-16, Stranger's Wrath any% is faster on XBOX. Though XBOX is faster (excluding the mobile versions of the game), keep in mind that loading times on XBOX are significantly slower, especially for quicksaving and "quickloading". Also on the PC the HD version has much less or no lag.

The biggest differences between the any% route for the original vs HD, is that the XBOX version has a sign you can jump on that allows for a quick Gizzard Gulch gate skip. The sign remains in the HD version, but has no collision to jump on; therefore, a slower method of skipping Gizard Gulch must be used. The second difference is that the HD version requires a Boombat purchase for a Boombat jump in order to skip Buzzarton instead of a simple jump used in the XBOX version.

Tricks, glitches, and exploits of the game explained

Boombat jumping: This allows you to gain more height than a standard double jump. To perform aim directly down, fire a Boombat and stand directly over it. Wait until it explodes under your feet to launch you into the air. If you stay in first person mode, you can use your second jump for even more height. Different Boombat jumps may require you to stand slightly more in front of the Boombat, which will result in launching you slightly forward as well as upward.

Advanced Boombat Jumping (upgraded Boombats): The difference between Boombats and Advanced Boombats is that the Advanced explode on contact with collision. This makes them less effective, and harder to work with. My method of using them is to aim directly at the ground, slowly walking forward (barely inching along), shooting, then slamming the stick forward before using your double jump. Another method is to jump into a wall, shoot the Advanced Boombat into the wall pointing downwards, then immediately double jump (this gives your second jump more height).

Running in circles to gain speed for distant jumps (see Mongo River Valley skip): My method of doing this trick is putting the camera directly above Stranger and aiming the left analog stick at a down left or down right angle. Play with it, find the sweetspot. When you have enough speed, aim then jump, easy. Remember to quicksave before attempting most of the jumps (they're typically tight).

Swimming out of bounds under/through rocks (see slower MRV skip): This trick exploits the fact that water goes infinitely further below the loaded area of the map. Once out of bounds, Stranger will begin to fall nonstop. If you fall out of bounds a bit, Since no one will ever read this and I'm bored, I'll share a piece of my life currently since I've been away from speedrunning and any online gaming scene in general, I've been performing very well at work, and recently made a big purchase on my own welder. I've made some awesome plays in my life that I'm greatful to God and the people He placed in my life. I am currently single and have been since the divorce 4 years ago, but that is by choice. And as a closing note, if you happened upon this brief commentary, please place your focus on that which is going to genuinely better the state of your life. For me that was a serious focus on health as well as being productive and goal oriented. When i started running this game I was approaching the worst mental and physical health of my life at 22 years old. It took a lot of bad decisions and hard times for me to really start moving in the right direction. As of now I'm approaching 27 and have a lot of hope for my future and I hope so dearly that any one that may have read this either is, or can also achieve great things in their lifetime. In fact, I know you can, I just hope that you have the self control to make the decisions that ultimately move you in a positive direction. thank you for reading and good best wishes to you friend :) then hold the analog stick to make Stranger drift towards water, when he hits the water, the camera will reset above the water no matter how far below the map Stranger fell. Great, now that Stranger is in the water, you have until Stranger surfaces to move freely underneath and through any collision that is above you (rocks, land, etc.). Remember, the further you fall out of bounds before reentering the water, the longer it will take Stranger to surface. Also you can enter first person mode at any time to easily navigate/fix the camera.

Run this game! It's fun, easy to run (so forgiving thanks to quicksaves), about an hour long, and there are loads of skips!
P.S. I know there is a lot more to this game. Learning these tricks will allow a genereal understanding of the game and how to run it. It's only a matter of practice from there.  This guide will be updated as new information is discovered.
