AutoSplitter Setup Guide

## **General Information**

If you're running this game on PC, it's highly recommended to use the built-in AutoSplitter and load remover included with LiveSplit. This ensures your run starts and ends at consistent points, and all loading times are removed automatically. This matters because the standard timing method for this game is **Loadless Real Time (LRT)**.

Before moving on, make sure you have **LiveSplit** installed on your system. You can download it from [livesplit.org](https://livesplit.org).

## **Basic Setup**

To enable the AutoSplitter:

1. Right-click anywhere on the **LiveSplit** window.
2. Choose **Edit Splits**.
3. In the window that appears, type **"ObsCure"** into the game field and select the appropriate entry from the dropdown.
4. Click **Activate** under the "Attempts" section. It should change to **Deactivate**.
5. A **Settings** button will now appear — click this to open the configuration window.

**Important**: Do not disable the Start, Split or Reset option, these are essential to the script and will provide the overall flow, in more detail:

- **Start** will ensure that your run starts at the exact point where it is defined in the Game Rules, which is directly the first frame after you leave the "Choose Difficulty" menu.
- **Split** will ensure that the split occur exactly at the settings that you chose. if you disable it, none of the options in the "Advanced" window will work. This is also responsible for the final split.
- **Reset** will perform a full reset of your timer and splits when you go back to the main menu, ensuring that you can directly restart a run without having to think twice about resetting manual via a hotkey.

## Split Settings

Inside the **Advanced** section, you'll find options to define when your splits are triggered. You can choose from three main setting groups:

- **Split by Room (Recommended)**

This is the standard method most runners will use.
Clicking the "+" icon next to the checkbox reveals a list of rooms or areas where splits will happen as soon as you enter them. The list follows the usual path taken during a speedrun, making it easy to track progress.

- **Split by FMV**

This can be used alongside the "Split by Room" settings group. Here, splits are triggered when a FMV (cutscene) begins. Use this if you want more detailed split tracking.

- **Doorsplitter**

This option creates a split **every time** you transition between areas or rooms.
While technically compatible with other modes, it’s best used on its own. It produces very frequent splits and is only recommended if your split list exactly matches your route.

## Setting up the Load Remover

To display your run's **Game Time** — i.e., time excluding loads:

1. Right-click your timer in LiveSplit.
2. Go to **Compare Against** → select **Game Time**.

Then, verify your layout shows it correctly:

- Open **Edit Layout**.
- Double-click on the **Timer** component.
- Under **Timing Method**, select **Current Timing Method**. This ensures the timer displays the comparison you've chosen.

### Include Real Time

There are optionally two common ways you can show the Real Time (RTA) in your LiveSplit.

**Option 1:**

- Insert another **Timer** component in your Layout.
- Set its **Timing Method** to **Real Time** manually.

**Option 2:**

If you want to keep your layout clean and avoid adding two timers:

1. Download the **Alternate Timing Method** component from:

2. Place the .dll file into your LiveSplit installation folder, inside the Components directory.
3. Restart LiveSplit.
4. In the Layout Editor, click **+**, go to **Information**, and select **Alternate Timing Method**.

This will display the **opposite timing method** of your current "Compare Against" setting.
So if your main timer shows **Game Time**, this component will show **Real Time** — perfect for verifiers and compact layouts. And its super stylish.

## Troubleshooting

- As of **June 2025**, the AutoSplitter works only with the **official Steam version** of the game. Any modified executables may cause the script to stop functioning.
- In case of an outdated script, to manually update your AutoSplitter, go to your LiveSplit Components folder, delete the Obscure.asl file, then reopen LiveSplit. This will force it to download the latest version of the script.
- Try **running LiveSplit as administrator** if you're experiencing problems, such as the script not reacting at all.
- Make sure you don’t have any **Scriptable AutoSplitter** components in your layout — these can interfere with the integrated script.
- Renaming the game's executable file will prevent the AutoSplitter from detecting it properly.
