alr so i just submitted a run and i just realized there was a tutorial on how to downpatch the game. it didn't explain exactually why but apparently it saves time. How does it save time exactly? does it have to do with the in game clock?

in current patch you need more levels to unlock the final mission, so it's faster to run the downpatched version

Yes. If you do not intend to perform full game runs, you do not need to downpatch.
