We created the 100 Points category hoping it would be a cooperation between multiple people to reach 100 Points as quickly as possible. However, as HRoll demonstrated, in a 2 player run the other person doesn't even need to do anything to get the fastest time.
You are better off in multiplayer runs having people not do anything if you are able to 100% using your play area. people putting anything down means you'll need a whole new stack to be made in the middle to get rid of whatever they played from your own cards. This is more like a "fastest 100 points" category (like fastest nerts) where one person should get credit and even then i don't think its much of a category since the best way to play is have your opponents do nothing. -britsha
This is why we want to change it to all players have to get 100 Points instead of just one. That would mean all players have to participate and work together. Thoughts?
I've actually had this discussion once before, idk, I feel like changing it would just lead the category to be "do two 100% runs" (which would be fine by me, i like running 100% but, kinda weird) but tbf, having it like this would make it obviously more of a coop category than what it is rn
so yeah, i'd be fine with that change :yea:
(discussion picture yeaa)

Obviously it's not actually optimal to have all but one player to do literally nothing, but it definitely does seem like the other players should just be in a pure support role where they only play cards in the middle in very deliberate circumstances. You do have 4 points of slack to work with (e.g. if someone has to play a 6 to unstuck you, you could just clear all your cards besides the 6), and low enough cards that someone else plays can be recovered by making a whole new stack to that value, so there should be opportunities where it's good to play.
As is, the gameplay is different from other categories, though I'm not sure it's particularly fun? For me, I wouldn't mind playing support a few times but I don't know that I would want to keep playing that way. I'm not sure how other people feel though, and that's what matters here, since you all are the ones who can actually form groups and play :p
I have a question if the rules do get changed, what will happen to the currently verified coop 100 points runs? theres only like 4, but I still think its a somewhat important question to get asked
One of the 100 points coop runs has someone's first nerts run, soooo >.>
taking in what's been said about 100 Points, i feel like a potential compromise would be to have 100 Points, but have it have 2 sub-categories: "All 100" and "Fastest 100". but not sure.
cause yeah, if you could co-ordinate super well, us more average nerts runners could maybe beat a solo HRoll 2 player run, but it does seem VERY difficult to co-ordinate in such a way that you are always helping the 100 Point runner in a Fastest 100 run and not accidentally screwing up their ability to get rid of cards, needing to waste time making a whole new stack to get rid of something (and hoping that the support runner is even in a position to find the cards to make the new stack). it seems all the work is on one person for a good run, which makes it feel like a solo HRoll-level runner can dominate all the group categories, but maybe a co-op run could prove otherwise (until then Fastest 100 doesn't seem particularly valuable)
while i got the sentiment of the 100 Points category, I wasn't so keen on it and it doesn't interest me much compared to normal categories (and IRL), but here's my thoughts and we could still potentially do this sub-categories idea. don't want to give too much for mods to moderate but we do have a nice team and patient runners it seems.
(so yeah to answer the previous question, either we would just delete the 100 point 2 player runs (4 runs), making the board into just "All 100" rules, or they'd be moved to a "Fastest 100" sub-category board)
I feel like having a variable All 100 and Fastest 100 is a bit much, I personally dont mind either way, i'd just be kinda sad if twitawoo loses their only nerts run lol (https://www.speedrun.com/nerts_online/runs/ywo90l9m)
I wouldnt mind having an extra category to run, but I feel like all 100 makes way more sense than fastest 100 iykwim
i'd support either decision though, idk 🤷♀️
I agree with splitting both into "All 100" and "Fastest 100" as it was something I discoused with Whale when we did our 100 Points/100% runs 2 days ago.
Hi, I was wondering if you are allowed to submit the gameplay for multiple categories. Mostly for: if you have a fast 100% run while also getting a good 100 points run (under the new All 100% category), you might have a run that's good enough for both.
Hello card placers! The two of us have been seeing the wonderful runs you all are putting in, it's been taking a lot longer to verify them however because we are far busier than we were when we started this board. Sorry everyone!
