# INFO
You can find the Autosplitter and the Splits that go along with them in the "Splits" section of the [Resources](https://www.speedrun.com/na/resources) tab.

Main doesn't have subsplits.
Detailed is the most common version used.
Hyper-Detailed has more subsplits by default and is highly customizable.

All the autosplitters additionally track loadless time ("In Game Time" in Livesplit). As the leaderboards are sorted by your LOADLESS time and not your REAL time, you should make sure you change the current timing method of Livesplit to "In Game Time". This can be done by right clicking on the main Livesplit window, clicking hovering "Compare Against..", and clicking "Game Time". You should also ensure your Timer / Splits / Subsplits components in your layout are using "Current Timing Method" or "Game Time" as their timing method. See "Header" and "Columns" section in the Splits and Subsplits components.

# INSTRUCTIONS:
## For all any% split and autosplitter styles...
1. Dowload your favorite split + autosplitter combo.
2. Extract the downloaded archive.
3. Deactivate the online autosplitter in Edit Splits.
4. Add a Scriptable Autosplitter component to your layout, and point Livesplit to that file. Make sure the "start" and "split" boxes are ticked.
5. Open the splits file through Livesplit.

## For Detailed and Hyper-Detailed Splits only...
1. Change the Splits component to a Subsplits component.
2. In the Subsplits component, you may tick the button to show "Contextual Subsplits", which is what most prefer.

# Download

Download the latest version of SpeedrunMod from one of the official sources:

# Installation

Extract the .zip archive and place the file named **xinput1_4.dll** into your NieRAutomata game folder next to the NieRAutomata.exe. Afterwards your folder should look something like this:

To find the game folder navigate to the location seen in the address bar in the image above, or right click the game in your Steam library and select the browse local files option like seen below:

Should there be mandatory updates to the mod simply replace the **xinput1_4** file in your folder with the new one.

# Toggling the mod

By default SpeedrunMod does not do anything other than monitoring some information for run verification indicated by the **"Vanilla"** tag next to the version number:

For running the VC3Mod category **"VC3Mod"**, which is integrated in SpeedrunMod needs to be enabled by toggling the mod. This is possible in the main menu by pressing **Home on the keyboard** or the **X and Y buttons** together on your controller as indicated by the mod's on screen text.

Note that toggling the mod with a controller only works with xinput controllers. (xbox controllers and usually ones designed for use on xbox or PC)

If you have any form of **Playstation or other controller** that does not toggle the mod **use the keyboard** bind instead.

Should you have a **small form factor keyboard** that does not have a Home key, you can use the on screen keyboard to toggle the mod. **On screen keyboard** can be opened via the windows settings as depicted in the images below:

.Downpatching to Steam version 1.01

# It’s not required to downpatch to version 1.01 if you’re running A-ending

Presently, the only tricks that the current patch 1.02 removes is the Early Tower Skip necessary for [E] ending and longer categories. Standard [A] ending categories **do not** need to downpatch to version 1.01 unless absolutely necessary.

# [New Method]


**1.** Open the Windows Run Dialog Function by pressing "Win + R". Then paste *steam://open/console* and hit Enter.

**2.** The Steam Console should now have opened and is accessible for use. Now paste **download_depot 524220 524221 6804539827574949545** into the Console and hit Enter.

**3.** The download should now start. Unfortunately the console doesn't give any updates on progress so you need to be patient and wait until it is done. The Console will notify you once the download has finished.





# [Outdated] Installation

Please read every step of this guide carefully.

**1.** You need to acquire .NET Core from Microsoft's website ( https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-core ), make sure to download the correct version for your operating system (Windows x64 for most users, but please check this).

**2.** Download the DepotDownloader tool from github  ( https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader/releases ) and extract it somewhere you'll remember.

**3.** Open the folder containing "DepotDownloader.dll", type "cmd.exe" into the address bar of windows explorer and press enter to launch command line from that location.

**4.** Now you can enter the command to download the files for Automata version 1.01 (2017). Make sure with each of these commands to replace the <username> and <password> fields with your steam account's details. If you have Steam Guard (2-factor auth) active the command prompt window will prompt you for the code like usual.

Command to execute (all on one line):
dotnet DepotDownloader.dll -app 524220 -depot 524221 -manifest 6804539827574949545 -username <username> -password <password>

**5.** Wait until 100% of the depot has been downloaded. The finished download will appear in the "depots" folder. At this point, you can safely move the finished download to any storage device you wish to play Automata on.

**6.** Launch the NierAutomata.exe in the depot folder (first launch will take a few seconds to initialize). You can tell you're on the 1.01 patch if you have the 2017 copyright on the Title Screen (see image below), you **are unable** to open the [development debug menus](https://www.speedrun.com/na/guide/8ekg1) in-game, and [Early Tower Skip is able to be performed at Chapter 15-01](https://youtu.be/fEQWVDzCAck?t=14). The autosplitter script in LiveSplit will also recognize your game version as 1.01.

# Adding DLC to your 1.01 installation

By default the installation will not include the DLC file we need to enable the outfits and quest items. Simply copy/paste your existing "data100.cpk" file from your current patch installation into the "data" folder of the version 1.01 installation:

.FAR Configuration Guide for Steam 1.02 AND 1.01 PC Speedruns

As of November 2021, a valid FPS display or FAR (Fix Automata Resolution) will be required for all leaderboard submissions due to a framerate glitch found in both Steam releases of the game. Given FAR is a third party mod, we have some rules in place to help standardize usage.
# Version 1.02
## Download and Install
Follow the steps at the following link under the header "Set up a local install": https://wiki.special-k.info/SpecialK/Local#set-up-a-local-install (Test version - Archive)

We recommend renaming the file to dinput8.dll for maximum compatibility.

After booting into the game, use "CTRL + Shift + Backspace" to get into the configuration Menu. Please accept the EULA when prompted.

# Required Settings for Steam version 1.02

1. Nier Automata -> Framerate -> disable “Remove 60 FPS Cap”

If done correctly, you should see your game being limited to 60 FPS, along with what your FPS would have been without the cap (highlighted in red). GPU stats are optional.

When capturing the game in OBS, make sure to enable 'Capture third-party overlays (such as steam).

Unlike with Steam version 1.01, displaying a frame counter is no longer required as the feature has been removed.

## Uninstalling from Steam version 1.02

Should you wish to uninstall the mod, simply open the folder where your NieRAutomata.exe file is stored and remove all files in that folder until you have these files & folders remaining:

## Download and Install

Go to:

and download one of the .7z files with a version number (e.g. FAR_0_7_0_11.7z)
*Do NOT use the latest version; many runners have reported that it introduces lag and stutter into their games (popular versions range from 0.7.0.10 to 0.7.0.20)*
Extract the contents of the archive and place the files into the folder where your NieRAutomata.exe file is stored.
When finished, it should look like this:

The first time you boot up the game you will notice the yellow overlay on your screen.
Turn this On Screen Display off once and on again by pressing "CTRL + Shift + O" to get rid of the message.

Afterwards press "CTRL + Shift + Backspace" to get into the configuration Menu. (Don't worry we'll get rid of all these numbers and monitoring features really soon)

# Hotkeys of note

CTRL + Shift + O toggles the OSD entirely.
CTRL + Shift + Backspace opens the configuration menu.
CTRL + Shift + F toggles frame rate & frame data.
CTRL + Shift + T toggles the Title/Clock.
CTRL + Shift + G toggles the GPU statistics.
CTRL + Shift + C toggles the CPU statistics.

# Required Settings for Steam version 1.01

First:
* The 60fps lock MUST remain locked and is prohibited from being unlocked for the purposes of speedrunning.

* Under "Compatibility Settings" > "Debugging" > set the "Log Level" Slider to 1 and nothing else but 1. The top left of your screen should now show "FRAME: X Amount of Numbers" and begin slowly counting up.
* If the top-left corner says CHEATER when initially enabling the frame counter, simply restart the game to fix it.

* Note: The Frame Counter is used because starting in FAR version 0.5.2.X the developer added a feature to the Frame Counter where if it detects that the game is rendering significantly more than 60fps, it flags the game with CHEATER.

* Under "On Screen Display" > "Basic Monitoring" > the "Title/Clock" box should be checked to show the currently used FAR version.
* *The Title/Clock setting must be activated at least at the beginning and end of runs to verify you are using a legal version of FAR.*
* You may uncheck some of the statistical boxes like "GPU Stats" for a cleaner On Screen Display.
* If a checkbox cannot be clicked for one reason or another, please refer to the Hotkeys of Note (listed above) to manually toggle it on or off.

* Global Illumination Quality

The in-game options don't allow you to adjust the "Global Illumination" setting, which is Ultra by default. Setting this to Medium, Low or even Off should help improve your framerate significantly. Be prepared for some weird shadows.



# FAQ
**- Is FAR required to speedrun NieR: Automata?** No. Although FAR is a tool that can boost performance and allow runners with low-end specs to run the game, it can also lead to problems like lag spikes. If you prefer using FAR, make sure you've followed the steps above correctly. If you prefer not using FAR, you can check out the Game Rules to see other available options.

.How to install Icefire's VC3Mod

**VC3Mod version 1.4 or higher is required for submission to the [A] VC3Mod main category**
Note: Submissions prior to 2019 November 1 are allowed to use VC3Mod version 1.2 or higher
⦁ In order for the mod to activate, the player must begin their run from a New Game.
⦁ Upgrade materials will be added to the inventory as soon as the final cutscene in Adam Pit triggers.
⦁ VC3Mod version 1.4 and onwards has an overlay displaying the version of the mod. Older versions of VC3Mod will reveal itself to moderators by appending *vc3mod1.X* to the player's save file name as the game progresses. .RivaTuner Configuration Guide for Steam 1.02 AND 1.01 PC Speedruns

As of November 2021, RivaTuner (RivaTuner Statistics Server) will be one of our recommended solutions for meeting the leaderboard submission requirements due to a framerate glitch found in the PC release of the game. Given this is a third-party tool, we have some rules in place to help standardize usage.

NOTE: RIVATUNER IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VC3MOD VERSION 1.8.

# Download and Install
RivaTuner often comes bundled with other GPU-monitoring tools such as MSI Afterburner. It's worthwhile to check if you have RivaTuner installed already before downloading it from one of the links below.

These settings should save automatically. From now on, as long as RivaTuner is open, you should see the FPS display in-game - if so, both the FPS display and FPS limiter are functioning correctly.

#Definitions
⦁ **Out-of-Bounds**: Any area that can access a Void-Out which could be argued to be outside of the intended play area. Any area with drown zones, such as those in the Forest and Flooded City, are not considered to be Out-of-Bounds.
⦁ **Void-Outs**: The phenomenon where the player travels for a set distance or length of time, causing the game to respawn the player at the last location they touched solid ground. This is usually done by falling when outside of the intended play area.

Q3. Minimize glitch（画面最小化バグ）って何？
A3. ゲーム起動中に画面最小化する事で、意図的に60FPSから上限突破してゲームの進行を加速させる事。
   このバグが発見された影響でFPSカウンターの表示が義務化されました。

Q4. VC3modって何ですか？
A4. VC3 = Virtuous Contract(白の契約)Lv.3に必要な素材と挑発強化チップ+2を、ゲーム進行中に自動入手するためのmod。白の契約のレベルでタイムに大幅な差が出てくるため、運要素を排除するために作成された。modを導入しているので、当然ながらVC3modカテゴリ専用である。

Q5. 遊園地廃墟で壁抜け出来ない部分がある。
A5. DLCをインストールしているとエレベータで塞がれてしまうため、アンインストールを推奨。

Q6. [E] Endingのアクセスキーを使いまわすバグって無くなったの？

NieR:Automata speedrunでよく使う英語を日本語へ翻訳と簡易的な解説を纏めました。

各種初心者向けガイド(Beginner Guide)の横に置いて見ると、より理解が早まるかもしれません。
※ゲーム内用語(武器、アイテム、チップ)については、[A]、[E]、Prologueで使う物のみを挙げております。

# ゲーム内用語(操作)

Evade: 回避。前後左右へダッシュ出来るので、回避ではあるがダッシュとしても扱われる。

Heavy Attack: 強攻撃。

Light Attack: 弱攻撃。

Lift: ジャンプをしてすぐに強攻撃を行う事。総じて上方向に進む攻撃モーション。

Plunge: 空中で回避ボタンのダッシュ動作中に強攻撃を行う事。総じて急降下する攻撃モーション。

Pod Fire: 射撃。speedrunでは基本的にDGしつつ射撃ボタンを押し続けて戦闘を行う。

Pod Launch: 射撃ボタンとジャンプボタンを同時押し。ポッドに捕まり助走を付けて空中で前方向に進み、宙返りする。speedrunでは壁抜けや空中での移動で使う。

Pod Spin: ジャンプ中にジャンプボタンを押しながら弱攻撃or強攻撃。ポッドに捕まりながら回転蹴りで攻撃する。speedrunでは空中での移動に使う。

Self-Destruct(SD): 自爆。ダメージを与えるのは勿論の事、直前に行ったほぼ全てのモーションをキャンセルする事が出来る。speedrunでは、瞬間的に大ダメージを与えたい場面や、移動テクニックと用途が様々。

Taunt: 挑発。ポッドのライト点灯を繰り返すと、与ダメージと被ダメージが1.5倍になる状態。Taunt+数字で挑発強化チップを指す(例：Taunt+6 → 挑発強化チップ+6)。

Weapon Set(WS): 武器セット。

# ゲーム内用語(武器、アイテム、チップ)

## 武器

Virtuous Contract: 白の契約。2Bの初期装備。

Virtuous Dignity: 白の矜持。遊園地廃墟へ出る梯子の奥から地上へ出ると入手出来る。speedrunでは壁を抜けて入手するのが一般的。

Virtuous Treaty: 白の約定。プロローグの初期装備で、プロローグ後は工場廃墟で回収出来るが、speedrunで使われることはプロローグのみであることが多い。

Machine Spear: 機械生命体の槍。パスカルの村で15000Gで買える。ジェットコースタースキップやらずにここで買えば良いのでは？と思われた方も多いと思われる。しかし、白の矜持で壁抜け出来る所で壁抜けする事が出来ない、という箇所が複数存在する。そのため、メジャーカテゴリでは基本的に購入されることはない。

## チップ

Critical Up: クリティカルUP。クリティカルヒット時、5倍のダメージ量になるのであればあるだけ付けておきたい。

Weapon Attack Up: 近接武器攻撃力UP。speedrunでは、ボーヴォワール戦後にランダムで拾うチャンスがある。

Ranged Attack Up: 射撃攻撃力UP。ポッドは勿論の事、射撃パートでの射撃もしっかり適用されているので、speedrunでは水没都市でのタイム短縮が見込める。

Shock Wave: 衝撃波。speedrunでは、クリティカルUPも攻撃力UPも無い場合に、何もないよりマシとして装備する派、付ける意味がないとして装備しない派に分かれる。ボーヴォワール戦後にランダムで拾うチャンスがある。

Resilience: 耐衝撃制御。speedrunでは砂漠の道具屋から購入。敵から攻撃を受けてもひるまないという事は、speedrunにおいてとても重要なので重宝される。

Taunt Up: 挑発強化。Taunt+数字でも挑発強化チップを指す(例：Taunt+6 → 挑発強化チップ+6)。speedrunのタイム短縮においてとても重要なチップ。砂漠の小型飛行体から、ガチャSSR程度の確率で入手出来る。

# speedrun テクニック

[Damage Glitch](https://youtu.be/d7UCz-xUQQ4): 武器セットの強セット（スロット2）へ小型剣を装備し、回避ボタンのダッシュ動作中に強攻撃を行うと、ダメージが約5倍程度になるバグ。speedrunにおいてダメージ源となる重要なテクニック。省略形はDG。

[Double Damage Glitch](https://youtu.be/Y7Bmbi1GMhA): DGを武器セット1、武器セット2で交互に行うこと。ここでは深く触れないが、DGは素早く出し続けるよりも、小型剣の回転数を意識して交互に繰り返すと効率よくダメージを出す事が出来る。省略形はDDG。

[Dash Chaining](https://youtu.be/ShkgsCS19gs): 前方向に回避ボタンを押し続けると、通常はダッシュが終わった後、風を切るように走るモーションへ移行する。しかし、走り始めるまでのダッシュを繋げて移動する事で、より早く移動する事が出来る。

[Dash Punching](https://youtu.be/ShkgsCS19gs?t=18): ダッシュと素手をセットした弱攻撃を繰り返す移動テクニック。Dash Chainingよりも速く、DashSwingingとほぼ同等。

[Dash Swinging](https://youtu.be/ShkgsCS19gs?t=35): ダッシュと小型剣をセットした強攻撃を繰り返す移動テクニック。このテクニックは、白の契約をLv.2以降にして初めて成り立つ(白の契約の攻撃速度UPが重要であるため)。

[Speardashing](https://youtu.be/ShkgsCS19gs?t=70): (槍をセットした)弱攻撃 → 自爆 → (小型剣をセットした)強攻撃 → 自爆 → 強攻撃と繰り返して移動するテクニック。このテクニックを行う上で、槍は何でも良いが、強攻撃には白の契約をセットする(攻撃速度UPが大事)。

Slow Mo: スローモーション。ポッドプログラムのチャージ中、周囲の速度が遅くなる。チャージが完了しても射撃ボタンを押す事でキャンセルする事が出来て、再度ポッドプログラムボタンを長押しする事で繰り返し遅延させることが出来る。

[Double lifts](https://youtu.be/f8Ozxp7rVbc): 通常、1回目のジャンプをした直後の強攻撃でしか発生しないモーションを2回出すテクニック。斜面に接地しながらモーションを出す事で、ジャンプの回数制限（通常は2回）が元に戻っていると考えられる。

Skipping Cutscene Slow-Walks: イベントやムービーに入る直前の歩きモーションを、ジャンプや攻撃モーションでカットするテクニック。

[Partner Dialogue Canceling](https://youtu.be/-oDv7ljIqSw): Partner Dialogue Skipとも言われる。画面上にダイアログボックスを表示したまま会話イベントを発生させた場合にスキップする事が出来るテクニック。

[Extended Dialogue Storage](https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm37708004): Partner Dialogue Cancelingを応用したぶっ壊れテクニック。このテクニックの確立により、発見前の記録が複数カテゴリを跨いで軒並み壊れた。省略形はEDS。

[Picture Book Exploit](https://youtu.be/2SR5ASFBGnQ?t=1709): イベント中に絵本を再生する事で強制的にイベントを終わらせるテクニック。[E]や[A]-[Z] (All Endings)等のカテゴリで使用される。
