I had a question about using magic man to reset instead of a full save wipe. Specifically in Chapter 13 (Mega Man V), none of the artifacts nor more importantly, any of the weapons get cleared when using magic man. Otherwise any% is pretty much the same, outside of having rush search for the entire run.
Additionally, all stages in the Mega Man V chapter are also already cleared (assuming you've beaten the game), meaning you could theoretically skip straight to Terra's fight.
What is the ruling for this for the any% category? If magic man's reset is used, should all stardroids stages be played anyways?
hmm i remember back in the day when the any% category was just called "full game". outside of forcing you to beat all the bosses, the category was strictly prohibiting the usage of magic man's reset since it didn't reset the game entirely
would be good to have more clarity for the full game runs, since i think some people might cheat their way into just spamming spark chaser or quick boomerang in the last chapter. maybe something like "don't use magic man's reset option" or clarify when a run uses magic man's reset or not, similar to how minecraft runs specify when someone uses F3
EDIT: that being said, in the 100% category we have now it says that you are allowed to use magic man's reset, so i think you are good to go with getting him
Sorry for the wait.
as head of new moderation if the run does not go to chapter 13, magic mans reset can be used as as long as rush search is not used, the run will be the same.
Going into chapter 13, magic man is no longer much of a reset. Therefor going forward I would recommend temporarily removing your save file in order to get a proper reset (or any other methods you deem best)
