With the release of the Legacy Kollection, we now have a new platform (or emulator) to play Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero.
This version runs the original PS1 release on a very fast emulator. So far, it appears that all Legacy Kollection versions (Switch, Steam, etc.) share loading times.
With this new version out, it’s the perfect time to update the leaderboards to better match the structure used in the other Mortal Kombat games. The main changes are:
- Categories without runs will be removed.
- The main categories will now be PS1 and N64, instead of Any% and All Bosses.
- Subcategories will include Real Hardware and Emulator for the PlayStation version. Any% and other future variations will also be added as subcategories.
- Once the first Legacy Kollection run is submitted, a new subcategory for that version will be created.
These updates will take place during the week and aim to clean up the leaderboards while properly setting up the Legacy Kollection version.
As discused on the Forum thread the 100% category has been changed to All Bosses, this better represents a completionist playtrough of the game
PS1 Runs on emulator now must use duckstation, the advantages include:
- With the set settings, it runs as close as possible with the console version
- Has features that allow for easier validation of runs and keeps an even playing field
- No issues, ePSXe emulator was having issues for some runners
Stronger and better thought rules gives us a better look and to the community as a whole. An even playing field might attract runners otherwise not interested.
