I've actually considered proposing a Challenge category in the past, but I wasn't sure of a good target score. I've done a test run to 1000 (threshold for unlocking Insane). I was also considering 1200 (last music change). Why 2000? That seems arbitrary.
I thought 9999 was too long, but if there's interest in 9999, sure.

In the SFC version of Kirby's Super Star Stacker, the standard challenge mode has difficulty levels ranging from normal to very hard up to 1000 points, and the challenge up to 2000 points is in the insane category, so I was trying to see if I could do the same for the GB version. Whether or not to add categories is up to you.

I don't think it needs to be added. Kirby's Super Star Stacker has a solid reason for requiring 2000 points (100% completion), but Kirby's Star Stacker doesn't offer anything special at 2000 points.
