20th Force Glitch

Use this link above for more detail including the list of borgs you can create. Some just straight up freeze the game which I personally have a list of which ones work and don't work (US Version).

This method is best for creating new borgs.

1.  Start the game from a new file or with no memory card inserted and go to
     Force Edit.

2. You will see G Red, a normal ninja, and a revolver gunman. Take G Red
    off of the first force and put him back in the first cell.

3. Now, placing the Normal Ninja on certain forces will determine which borg
    you get from the glitch. For instance, putting a Normal Ninja in forces
    1,9,10, and 11 will get you a D emon Samurai (A list of borg codes will be
    provided below, use whichever one you like).  It does not matter which slot
    you put them in, so long as they are the only borgs in the forces.  After
    doing that, go to the 20th force.

¤WARNING¤  Everything you do beyond this point can cause permanent
damage to your save file.  Make sure you try this in a new game before
attempting it on your own file. ¤WARNING¤

4. Place G Red in the 23 slot and the Gunman in the 15th slot of force 20.
   This activates the glitch.  Once you place G Red, you will be able to pick up
   an invisible borg from any cell in your box.  Be very careful at this point
   because placing an invisible borg on top of another borg will usually freeze
   the game.  If you aren't sure whether you are holding one, just press B to
   drop it.

5. Pick up an invisible borg from any empty cell in the box and place it on top
   of the Normal Ninja.  You will still be holding an invisible borg, so press B
   to let go of it.  The Normal Ninja should become a new Arrow Ninja, and
   force 20 will be filled with G Reds.  If the game froze instead, than you
   probably used a non-working code.  If the game didn't freeze, you can
   backtrack at this point by placing another invisible borg on the Arrow Ninja.

6. You should see a Normal Ninja in the 24th slot.  Some codes will produce
    something other than a Normal Ninja, and those will work just as well.  If 
    G Red is in the 24th slot, than something went wrong.  Pick up the borg in
    slot 24 and place it on the G Red in slot 15.  Press B to release G Red.

7. Pick up another invisible borg and place it on the Arrow Ninja in your box.
    The Arrow Ninja will become a new borg depending on which code you used
    with the Normal Ninjas.  Press B once more, as you will be holding an
    invisible again.  Try checking the stats of the new borg.  If the game
    doesn't freeze, than the borg works and can be used in battle, traded,
    or sent to the warehouse.

20th Force Glitch Borg List

This is a list of all the borgs that can be created via the 20th Force Glitch on the NTSC/US version. Please refer to the "20th Force Glitch" guide that is listed under the 'Guides' section so you know how to use this glitch.

20th Force Mutant Guide (New Game)

Before you look at this guide be sure to know what the 20th Force Glitch is and how to do it.

This guide's purpose is to show the second application of the 20th Force Glitch other than creating new borgs. You are actually able to change the properties of your borgs in various ways. The simple application of this glitch is to simply change the color of the borg, but you can do much more with this glitch.

This specific guide will be to change your normal Beam Gunner borg that you obtained from the normal 20th Force glitch into a GATLING Beam Gunner.

1) With your newly created Beam Gunner, you place it in slot 1 of Force 4, 5, 7, and 8. Alternatively, you can make an equally good mutant borg, the  Billy Beam Gunner, by placing your Beam Gunner in slot 1 of Force 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, and 11. (IMPORTANT NOTE: These specific orders are only able to work on a New Game of Gotcha Force. It is completely RNG whether these combinations will work on any other save)

2) Like the normal glitch, place G-Red in slot 23 and the Revolver Gunman in slot 15 of the 20th Force.

3) Pick up the invisible borg and place it on top of your Beam Gunner and press b.

4) Pick up the borg in slot 24 and place it in slot 16. (NOT SLOT 15) Press b.

5) Pick up the invisible borg and place it on the slot where the Beam Gunner was located and press b.

6) Empty out all your Forces and BEHOLD! You now have a completely over powered borg at your disposal.

New Game Route

This is the fastest known route to date thanks to danschemen, the old WR holder.

Timing starts when you hit "Start Game" and ends when you defeat Galactic Emperor.

1. Get through the beginning until you beat Nekobe and Kitsune. (800 energy)

2. Do the 20th force glitch for the Beam Gunner (3,9) and Samurai Shogun (3, 9, 10, 11). ¤Note: You can do different borgs if you want, extensive testing needs to be done to see who are the 2-3 fastest borgs for the entire game. Dragons are the fastest but you can't create them with the 20th Force Glitch in the US version.

3. Fight Kakeru to open up more levels.

4. Fight in missions against double partners, Nekobe & Kitsune, etc then go for the easy Death Force missions

5. Finish all the missions and don't fight Sho if he pops up before being able to fight the Flame Dragon. Fight the Flame Dragon. (1050 energy)

6. Go to "Defeat the Death Force bodyguards!". Play it and quit until Orochi shows up in the same place. Quit his fight as well to "sequence break".

7. Complete all areas that the Death Force have taken over. Fight the Hero Borgs. Finish the missions until Orochi shows up. Fight Orochi and after the mission is finished, fight the Dark Knight(on the same area). When the Dark Knight shows up, you only need to kill the Dark Knight and the level will finish.

8. Fight with Kotaro and add Neo G Red once you get into the Force option. Co-op with Kotaro. Train with Kakeru then Nekobe & Mana then Kotaro(same area). Do Kotaro's Crash Course. Train with Nekobe & Usagi. Defeat the Death Force unit (bottom left) then defeat the ICBM Tanks(same area). Do Kotaru's Crash Course 2. Fight the Hero Borg Unit then do Kotaru's Crash Couse 3. 

9. Fight "Another Death Commander!". Choose "Battle with Sho & Yuji!" then quit. Go to it again and quit. Do "Defeat a Death Commander!" and choose Tsutomu. Fight the Hero Borgs (same area). Battle Yuji & Met then Tama (same area). Do "A mysterious crystal." Fight Tama again (left side). Do "The Hot Battle!!" then Death Eye unit. Go co-op with Sho to defeat Orochi. 

10. Do "The dragon's den!" then Death Force special unit. Defeat the Ultimate Cannon. Fight with Tsutomu then fight with Mana. Defeat the Tank Borgs then Knight borgs. Defeat the Copy Man unit then do Showdown at the Death Base!(same area). Fight the deadly UFOs and fight the Cosmic Dragon(same area). Kill Orochi and the real Cosmic Dragon shows up. 

11. Do every co-op mission. Defeat the Girl Borgs then the Big Battle, Diver units, Small battle, and Machine borgs. Defeat the Wing & Angel Borgs then the Vehicle unit, great dragon parade, Oriental Battle (w/ Yuji), Hero Borgs, "Mr. Reverse Bolt" (w/ Usagi), Cold Battle, bombing unit. Defeat the Cyber Death Dragon.

12. Defeat the Galactic Emperor.

Read this before doing any runs

This guide will be a compilation of everything I've learned so far from doing runs and researching this game.

1) Mashing: It may not seem like it, but you need to be able to mash pretty well to get a good time in this game. Whenever you are using a multihit move such as Beam Gunner's X attack, you can mash buttons in order to do more damage with the move. in order to maximize damage you want to rotate your control stick as fast as you can as well as mash the A, X, Y, and B buttons (For me I just mash the A and Y buttons). You know you are doing max damage if you get 120 hits with Beam Gunner's X attack.

2) 20th Force Glitch: This glitch is the core of the speedrun. It allows for you to change a borg into another borg. You'll be using the glitch to turn your normal ninja into a Beam Gunner and your Revolver Gunman into a Samurai Shogun which are two the strongest and most flexible borgs in the game. Simply follow the guide or watch the videos of the runs to learn how to do this trick.

3) Mutant borgs: You might be confused on what exactly Mutant Borgs are and why they are so important to the run. Well Mutant Borgs is an extension to the 20th force glitch. It allows you to basically "fuse" the attributes of two borgs together. One such example is giving bullet count of the Gatling Gunner (4 X attacks and 100 B attacks) into the Beam Gunner, making Beam Gunner easily the most powerful borg in the entire game imo. Just follow the Mutant Borg guide to make that monstrosity. 

4) Battle tips: I'll just put some assorted tips here. 
	a) You can cancel your Beam Gunner X attack with your charged B attack, so be sure to charge up the B attack 			whenever you do Beam Gunner's X attack so if you miss you can cancel the animation.
	b) Utilize your R and L buttons when in combat! Whenever you shoot a killing blow to an enemy be sure to switch targets and continue attacking instead of having the game automatically switch targets when you kill an enemy. Also whenever your enemy is invulnerable always switch targets instead of waiting for it to get back up.

I am not really up to date on the current route, so you should watch Jaburo's run.

If I learn anything else worth mentioning for the run I'll put it in this guide.
