Why. I get it as a joke, but does this actually have any benefit?

There's plenty of other links you can include with no arguable benefit. Does it really matter that much?

I think you can technically contact someone on Duolingo by posting publicly on their profile. So I guess it technically counts as a (pretty bad) social media link?

It can also somewhat help to find people who are learning a language and see if they want to learn it together.
