# How to Downpatch FNAF Security Breach on Linux/Steam Deck

This guide will walk you through downloading older versions of FNAF Security Breach for speedrunning on Linux/Steam Deck.

I made this with Arch in mind but the steps on Debian/Fedora should be pretty similar.

## Prerequisites

- Steam must be installed and running
- You must own FNAF Security Breach on Steam

## Step 1: Open Steam Console

1. Make sure **Steam is open**
2. Open your terminal (default shortcut: `Ctrl + Alt + T`)
3. Paste the following command (use `Ctrl + Shift + V` in terminal):

```
steam steam://open/console
```

4. Press `Enter`

You should see the Steam console window open:

## Step 2: Download Your Desired Version

Click in the console input box (marked in red) and paste one of the following commands depending on which version you need:

**Available Versions:**

- **Version 1.04:**

```
download_depot 747660 747661 1753262800287509610
```

- **Version 1.07:**

```
download_depot 747660 747661 8807979932580851246
```

- **Version 1.11:**

```
download_depot 747660 747661 2484863834309119946
```

- **Version 1.13 (Base Game):**

```
download_depot 747660 747661 8657812006695049826
```

- **Version 1.13 (Ruin DLC Pak):**

```
download_depot 1924720 1924720 7533885617833919466
```

> **Note:** Use Ctrl + V to paste in the console (not Ctrl + Shift + V)

Press `Enter` to start the download.

## Step 3: Monitor Download Progress

Unfortunately, Steam console doesn't show download progress. However, you can check manually:

1. Navigate to your download location (see below for paths)
2. Go up one folder to `app_747660`
3. Right-click on `depot_747661` → **Properties**

4. Click the **refresh button** (outlined in red) periodically
5. The folder size will grow as it downloads
6. **Full download size:** ~80 GiB

## Step 4: Locate Your Downloaded Files

When complete, you'll see this message in the console:

```
Depot download complete : "DOWNLOAD_LOCATION" (78 files, manifest MANIFEST_NUMBER)
```

Your download location depends on how Steam is installed:

### Native Steam Installation:

```
~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steamapps/content/app_747660/depot_747661/
```

### Flatpak Steam (not recommended):

```
~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steamapps/content/app_747660/depot_747661/
```

> **Tip:** If you're unsure which one you have, try both paths

The game executable is **fnaf9.exe**

## Step 5: Add the Game to Steam

1. In Steam, click **Games** → **Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library**
2. Click **Browse**
3. Navigate to your download location (from Step 4)
4. Double-click **fnaf9.exe**
5. Click **Add Selected Programs**

The game should now appear in your Steam library as "fnaf9.exe"

## Step 6: Configure Proton Compatibility

1. Right-click **fnaf9.exe** in your library → **Properties**
2. Go to the **Compatibility** tab
3. Check **"Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool"**
4. Select **GE-Proton10-28** (or latest GE-Proton version)

## Step 7: Launch and Test

Click **Play** on fnaf9.exe!

### Troubleshooting:

**Rainbow stripes on main menu background?**

- Try different versions of Proton GE (GE-Proton9-20, GE-Proton8-32, etc.)

**Game crashes ?**

- Welcome to FNAF Security Breach! This is unfortunately normal, especially on older versions
- Try troubleshooting on the speedrunning discord server.

**See "Depot download failed : missing license for depot (No subscription)"**

- Steam doesn't think you own the game.
- Try changing steam accounts.

Note: when you open the game a update file will try to download, **you need to pause it in order to maintain the old patch, this will also happen when you turn on the console. I recommend turning off the auto update function.**

- (This is just conners guide but with the fix) How to Downpatch Security Breach       
- Press: ⊞ Win + R to open the "Run" window. 
- Type steam://open/console in the prompt and press ↵ Enter. 
- Type download_depot 747660 747661 1753262800287509610 for 1.04 
- Type download_depot 747660 747661 8807979932580851246 for 1.07  
- Type download_depot 747660 747661 2484863834309119946 for 1.11

- Once complete go Into whatever disc (C Drive for example)

How to install it (text): Locate your game's files and go to the "fnaf9" folder, once you are there drag the 2 folders (Binaries and Content) into there and that's it.

### Usage:

Press "I" to freeze the loads and press "O" to make loads have its normal speed.

### How to remove the mod:

Go to your game folder and then go to ...fnaf9/Content/Paks/LogicMods and delete SBLoadManip.pak

Now go back to the fnaf9 folder and go to ...fnaf9/Binaries/Win64 ,select the ue4ss folder and the dwmapi.dll file and delete them
