The PS2 record looks to have about 4-5 second load times while mine are 9-10. I am on PCSX2. How do you get faster load times?
Hi, I'm late.
I was also using PCSX2 (version 1.4.0) at the time. I did changed some settings in the emulator because I was having terrible frame rate issues — game was running at 60% speed, and the changes made it go up to a normal speed. So here they are:
On the speedhacks tab I set the EE Cyclerate to 2 — which gave a minor FPS boost but, most importantly, fixed the black loading screens —, the VU Cycle Stealing was set to 3 — which is what helped the most fixing the game go back to a normal speed, instead of running at 60% —, then I also enabled mVU Flag Hack, MTVU, INTC Spin Detection, Wait Loop Detection — I assume all of it was helping to maintain the game at 100% speed —, and for last I enabled fast CDVD — which I believe to be causing part of the loading time differences; I say "part" because it's an emulator run, I assume your computer will interfere on the loading time too, like, for me all those settings made the game constantly run at 100% speed, but maybe for you it will make it go all the way up to 200% if you have a better computer than I do (or it won't even get to 100% if the opposite is true).
Edit: I think to be able to change those settings you'll need to first disable the "preset" option at the bottom.
On the GSdx Settings (don't ask me how I got to this tab, because I have no clue), I had it set to Default Hardware Device adapter, Direct3D11 (Hardware) renderer, Auto interlacing, 8-bit Textures disabled, Custom internal resolution at 640x480, Nearest texture filtering, Off anisotropic filtering, Full (Safest) CRC Hack Level, HW Hacks disabled, and Software Mode Settings disabled — but, just in case, they were set to Edge Anti-aliasing (AA1) disabled, Rendering threads at 2, and Mipmapping enabled. I can't tell how the Shader Configuration was set because I didn't took a screenshot of that. I have no clue what any of those settings do, but I know that one of them fixed a problem I had were vertical green lines would appear on top of the game.
See if you can replicate the 4-5 seconds loading times like that. Maybe it is the case of considering a leaderboard without the loading screens; I'm always down to make moderation life harder.
If there's any contradiction between this text and what's on the images I linked: follow the images; it's been ~2 years since I tested these settings, so I genuinely don't remember what each of them did, and I'm mostly following the explanation I sent to one of the mods at the time (even the screenshots are from 2 years ago, when I first contacted them about it).
Hey Yall! Ive been added as a mod for Fight Club and im glad to be able to make some changes over the coming days!
- Boards Merge And Retimes. I've retimed every run on the board for Load Removals. What this looks like: The first frame the fight begins to load in, to the frame the screen turns
