Not all of these are exactly frequent but I felt them worth including. I guess I have to call this Asked Questions instead then.
Q: What is and isn't considered a glitch?
A: The way this leaderboard defines glitches can be confusing, but I'll try to walk you through it.
Here are some things commonly interpreted as glitches that are, on this leaderboard, considered Glitchless:
-
Ladder flicking
-
High jumps
-
2 stud climb-ups
Here is an incomplete list of some glitches used commonly in speedruns:
-
Wallhops
-
Emote clips (e.g. dance clips, laugh clips)
-
Lag high jumps (a.k.a. freeze high jumps)
-
Lodges
Note: Any glitch that's part of the intended route of the tower, with the exception of intentional skips, will be considered Glitchless. For example:
-
ToIE requires you to do multiple dance clips in the intended route, but runs that use them would still be considered Glitchless.
-
ToOH(C) has a dance clip skip on Floor 3 that, while added intentionally, isn't part of the main route of the tower, so runs that use it would be placed in the Glitches category.
Q: Is there a place I can speedrun towers from Windswept Peak?
A: Yes, check out the Category Extensions leaderboard: https://www.speedrun.com/etohce
Note: There are also a few extra categories on this leaderboard in the full-game section! The most notable ones would be practice obbies and the "Unlock Realm" category
Q: What's the difference between real time and in-game time?
A: There isn't any. You're supposed to enter your time in the "in-game time" section for the leaderboard to format times correctly, though
Q: Could I use an item that's not from an event in the Event Items category? (e.g. Bootleg Coil, Helicopter Powers, etc.)
A: Nope, sorry. Only items that can be obtained from an event are allowed in the Event Items category, with the exception of paid items such as Heavenly Coil and Forcefield Orb
Q: If I wanted to submit a run on a specific tower that I got during a tower rush, could I do that?
A: Yeah that would be fine! To time such a run, you would simply subtract the time at which you loaded into the tower from the time at which you hit the winpad.
Q: If I get kicked by the anticheat at the end of my run, will it still get accepted?
A: As long as the run is otherwise legitimate and follows leaderboard rules, yeah!
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! You can post questions to the forum or message one of the leaderboard moderators on speedrun.com/Discord
Now that Roblox has added the option to change your FPS cap in the settings, speedrunning up to 240 FPS is now Allowed. Yippee !
To Be Clear: Memory writing below 60 FPS for things like lag clips is still not allowed cause that takes external software
