Sorry i have some Bad News

Good day everybody.

I'm sorry to have to bring bad news again.

It seems as if the in-game time is different from the a real time and b different systems.

After a quick analysis of two videos and calculating the times, I came to the conclusion that 1 second of real time on the PS3 has an in-game time of 0.934 seconds.

In the arcade or emulated arcade version in the video, 1 second in real terms is about 0.906 seconds.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no fraud here.

Only the time in the game is calculated differently, which can actually be seen very clearly in the video.

As you can also see, in the end it's a whole 3 seconds in game time.

Unfortunately, this makes the rankings ineffective in my eyes.

I'm sorry.

I would have liked it better if it wasn't like that.

But in this case, I would have to mutate into curepunk to win against a worse race.

So I ask you here: a: to check my statements

b: Add the PS3 and Xbox divisions to the ranking list and split them up to maintain fairness.

I've not been active for some time, but it looks like the other moderator has removed themselves so I guess I need to come back more.

Regarding this, I could take a closer look if it seems necessary. I've always known IGT and RTA timing was different, which is why I chose to always go with what the game is saying; then if the "modern" versions (PS3/Xbox) is slower I figured was mostly due to potentially different or fluctuating framerates.

Hello.

I didn't expect the console versions to have frame rate drops. The game was released quite a while before the consoles.

I also didn't think that different frame rates would affect the time.

Apart from frame rate drops.

I can display the frame rate.

Unfortunately, only on PS3.

Constant frame rate at approximately 59.95 fps.

If my math is correct, this is negligible.

Calculation below the attached video.

Unfortunately, I would appreciate a sensible solution in this case, ideally to separate the rankings.

If you've seen the first video, it should be clear that the PS3 version doesn't stand a chance against the arcade version.

Curepunk could complete a perfect lap in arcade mode, but would always be one to two seconds slower in the PS3 version.

Therefore, this is unfortunately somewhat unfair.

Alternatively, real-world time could be compared instead of in-game time.

Time could be mathematically subtracted from the PS3 runs or added to the arcade version.

But that sounds like a ton of work.

I just want a fair and sporting solution.

Your proof is exactly why we are using IGT and not RTA.

The potential frame difference (I'm getting 66 frames for each in-game second on the Arcade video, and 64 frames for the PS3 video) can measure up over time IRL because you are watching a composed video.

However, if you go frame-by-frame in both videos, you can see that in-game clocks between both videos match each other perfectly fine. This is why I opted to go for IGT instead of RTA. I don't see a difference here.

I will also say that the only way this can be accurately measured is if we could playback the same inputs on both systems (like TAS). Otherwise there are plenty of other factors (for example you shifting to G2 13 frames later than the Arcade video made you lose speed early, not to mention going off track on the 3rd(?) checkpoint)

I have to disagree with that. Daytona usa is a port and there is no 100% port. From a logical point of view, not possible at all. Make a fun competition out of the game.

KI Answer:

"A 100 percent port in the sense of an exactly identical implementation on a different hardware is technically not possible for video games due to different processors, graphics chips and memory architectures.

Instead, the software is reprogrammed or adapted using abstraction layers (such as engines or SDL), making the following compromises:

Hardware variations: Because consoles and PCs use different CPU and GPU architectures, platform-specific code often needs to be rewritten. Graphics and sound: These components must be adapted to the capabilities of the target system, which can lead to visual or auditory differences. Optimization: A port is usually an adaptation to the specific boundary conditions of the new system, not a 1:1 copy of the original. While modern engines can make work easier, full functional and technical identity between the source and destination platforms remains unattainable due to physical and software differences."

Otherwise, I can only advise the other runners to play the emulated or arcade version. There is the possibility of driving better times. At sega I asked closely, unfortunately I didn't get an answer. I also noticed that the music is over faster. I am firmly convinced that the emulated version is faster. Probably also the arcade version.

@MrWeakwill On social media, you had accused the speedrunners on this site of being TAS players, probably because their times were faster than yours. You also complained that there were no fair rules when it came to reviewing runs, since even a kid could approve or reject one, and said you were very unhappy with how things worked around here and would never come back. Because of that, you stayed away for six months, and now you’ve come back with more nonsense. What gives?

Please do not distract from the topic here. An honest, fair competition can only be given under the same conditions. that is not the case here. That is my free opinion. I would like to have proof of accusation no. 1 from you. In which social media have I expressed what? What times are you talking about, if I may ask? I beat their Daytona USA times. Children have no place in work. I have no idea how your country regulates this, but here in Germany it is punishable to let children work. Apart from the qualifications, which a 14-year-old does not have. Since I convicted a presenter of cheating and made it public, because there was no other way, I seem to have become speedrun moderator enemy No. 1. The anulation of honest and fair barrels is over 60 pieces. There are even rules changed.

Which brings me to the last submitted Daytona USA times. These were also annulled because supposedly bitchute should not be available for the presenter. I have previously checked if Bitchute is blocked in Brazil or Finland. This is not the case. So I have to ask where the problem lies? From my point of view, both presenters should be able to see the video and also check it. How do you come up with the idea of accusing me of stay? I am not obliged to be present at Speedrun. Then it takes time to find information or write to people or manufacturers. This cannot be done overnight. Then I lead a personal life and have fully concentrated on Rave Racer World Rankings, So I don't owe you an account of my whereabouts.

The contact with Sega has already cost me months and has not brought anything

Ok, let's end this fruitless discussion once and for all, shall we?

Here is a screenshot of you saying the things you claim you didn't say (it's translated into English by Google because the original is in German):

Now, if you would like to keep posting here, know that there are RULES. Calling us TAS cheaters will not do you any favors.

By the way, read the rules of the site, specially this part in SITE BANS part: "...while we are not seeking to police people's Twitch, Twitter, Discord, and other social medias, we may issue bans for off-site conduct if it is reported or discovered."

Update to the Saturn leaderboards

Hello! A small update.

The Saturn leaderboards has been split between PAL and NTSC-U/NTSC-J/PAL60.

This was made a bit in haste (and with loopy me past midnight) so let me know if I missed something or should alter this split.

Post-sleep edit: It's now a basic PAL vs. NTSC split for Saturn, m
