How does the throne room glitch work to skip waves + how does town portal trick work to bug ancients in that spot?
I'll sum up the ancients trick because I know there are others who can go way more in depth on wave skips than I can. Bugging ancients to create impassable terrain is done by opening a town portal when korlic leap attacks. The game "saves" Korlic's landing location and makes it impassable. Repeating this you can create large impassable areas on the arreat summit, most commonly used midway up the right side to create a "wall" between the pillar and edge of the arreat summit. This wall can still be passed by Talic with WW and Korlic with Leap attack if you get too close. If you go to town after setting up this wall sometimes it can "despawn". Using ranged skills you can "cheese" the ancients, normally only worth it on Hell difficulty. The most commonly used classes for this are Zon (Immolation arrow), Sorc (Blizz/Hydra/firewall), & Sin (traps). Necro could use this with bone skills however I am not up to date on Necro strats and believe they do edge with summons instead.
Thanks, the wave skip looks like a counting method of the characters animation resetting in original graphics mode. I wonder if different characters have different animations in idle, the assassin looks faster than sorc for example, and way faster if using burst of speed
For wave skipping: I find it's simple to wait inside of throne until Baal's laugh track ends, then step out for 4.25-4.75 seconds, step in and immediately back out, wait .5 seconds, and re-enter throne room to begin the next laugh track.
There's a good bit of wiggle room for how long you stand outside (about a full second ~4-5), but when you step back in, there's very few frames for how long you can run in and out. It's something that takes a fair bit of practice, and you may get quite a few, but the important part for speedrunning is being consistent at it.
Personally, the D2R graphics are harder for lining up, but if you learn on those grahpics, then you won't have to switch to old. Good luck :)
@themightybill I personally always open TP when skipping waves and count the animations of portal moving (on OG graphic) - I count 6 of those starting with the mouseclick away from throne (click is "one" already), and then "step in" happens at 6th. This way you avoid different character animation speed with BurstOfSpeed etc
Oh that sounds like a cool idea thank you Jymnasium for the explanation + fifus for the universal timing option
I make Baal laugh like 6-7 times in a row, but I skip 1-2 waves. Is it common we got laugh, but don’t skip wave, or I do something wrong?
Also sometimes he laughs unexpected too fast, have no clue why
Kasya, it is something that can happen. If he laughs but you don't get the skip that typically means you didn't properly cross the line, didn't go deep enough into the throne room on your turn around(or way early - you have ~0.5-0.8 seconds leeway on when you go back in). If he did not laugh and you missed the skip that means you went too deep on your reentry. It's hard to put into words but does that make sense? Also Delusional I presume you meant seconds cause his laugh is definitely not 6 frames (~0.25 seconds) long.
Can anyone share a VOD of what’s happening in the throne room? (somehow, I remember bender show it once in lod...)
Tool is used to track Diblo II: Resurrected loading states with LiveSplit and LiveSplit Server Component. It captures D2R client and tracks loading screens.
