Hello, im new to speedrunning (as in, running myself, i've watched a ton of speedruns).
Im planning on starting out with title% to get the hang of it.
1: in the google drive doc, at the ripperdoc section in the end, it says "Answer regina's second call and skip the call" how do you skip (this) call? 2: In the doc (again) it says spam 1, press 2 etc during interactions, it seems like you should be able to press 1/2/3 etc on your keyboard to select dialogue options, but i can only select options with "F" (and scrolling over it). is this just written like that to make it clear or am i doing something wrong? 3: is there a way to get multiple bindings to the same action? (mostly asking for jumping, i want it on space, and mousewheel up+down). i can do it with AHK but macro's are not allowed. So is there an ingame option to do it? or another way?
4: something more general, how often should i upload PBs? since im new to running im pretty sure ill beat my PB quite a bit every (somewhat decent) run. and i dont think ya'll will like it if i spam 5 updates/day.
If anyone has some more (general) advice about running this, that would be welcome.
Thanks in advance, Rumble.
Hey Rumble,
- skipping in that sense is just fast forwarding it -- some of the strats in the google doc are outdated for Titlescreen, I would suggest watching one of the top 3 runners and take some notes.
- for the dialogue the 1,2,3 is just telling you what dialogue option you should pick, you scroll to the option and press f.
- There is a keybinding file for the game and some runners bind one of the mouse wheel directions to jump for khopping.
- when I was starting I uploaded my best run everyday for about 4 days straight.
Welcome to the community and good luck on your runs, DreK.
edit: if you have any more questions the discord is the place to go :)
Hey, Rumble! Welcome to the community!
For (3), if you're running a windows PC, you can find the inputUserMappings file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\r6\config. That's the one you're going to want to edit.
As a new speedrunner, the best advice I can give is record and post a full run of your chosen category, and don't worry about comparing yourself to other runners at this point. It doesn't matter how many times you die, or how many tricks you mess up. It doesn't even matter if you're using tricks at all. Just get something on the board that you can use as a gage to see what you need to work on. The sense of "Okay, I've finished a run. I can do better," is really important if you want to stick it out and improve. Once you have a run on the board, then you can start comparing to see what people are doing differently and make your own choices about how you want to change.
As a new Cyberpunk runner, you're smart to start with title. It's about 1/3rd the time as any% and you can practice all of the basic techniques used throughout both runs. Once you've got the basics down, you can branch out into any% or the miscellaneous runs.
Like DreK mentioned, the discord is where most of the magic happens in this community, so feel free to join in. Looking forward to seeing your name on the board!
