Hey everyone, I run the game on the RPCS3 category. I would like to request two emulator specific rule additions that make runs more practical without affecting competitiveness or timing integrity. These rule additions would only be for the RPCS3 doorskip category of the game which use the LRT.
- Allow deletion of in-game BGM files for RPCS3 emulator runs only. Runners may remove the game's background music files in the emulator game folder. This only changes the audio output and it does not alter game logic, textures, mechanics, etc. All submitted VODs must not contain any custom music on the final submitted VOD (only original in-game audio and in-game music or no music)
The BGM files are located in "\rpcs3\dev_hdd0\game\NPJB00135\USRDIR\BHCV\nativePS3\sound\bgm\source".
The files that need to be deleted are:
-
All "main.at3" files.
-
All "sub.at3" files, except "sub_82.at3" file.
I tested and recorded a whole run without the music.
Here's a link to that test so you see nothing really changes except there is no music.
- Allow pausing during door transitions where the LRT triggers in the RPCS3 doorskip LRT category only. During door transitions where the LRT triggers and time is stopped, runners may pause the emulator with the "pause emulation" shortcut on RPCS3 which is CTRL+P by default but can be rebound. Since the LRT pauses the time on door transitions, pausing at those moments does not change the final time. There are a very small number of doors where the LRT doesn't trigger at the same time you trigger the door so it is up to the runner to know where this occurs and not pause the emulation there. Pausing is only permitted where the LRT has visibly stopped the time.
I also tested this so you can see how I pause the game a few times ONLY in between door transitions where the LRT triggers. Timestamps for pause examples are in the previous video link.
Again, these rules would be limited only to the RPCS3 doorskip LRT category. Console submissions would remain unaffected. Since emulator can be used in the console category, these rules would not be allowed there since console users have no way of doing this (removing music and/or pausing time) and it would be unfair to allow emulator users to do this.
I don't think this is an unusual request since there is already precedent for it on SRC and in other Resident Evil games, for instance, RE4 steam version allows deletion of music files and other RE games like 2, 3, and 4 classic allow pausing. I know this game is pretty much dead right now but would love to see if anyone agrees with this.
