I know this is a very inactive game for speedrunning, but I wanted to ask about some rules and/or potential category additions.
Versions before v1.03.1000 are not allowed, which would make sense for v1.02 or earlier. But that also leaves v1.03.0012 to v1.03.0072 banned. I would like to know why this is the case. If the reason is lost to time or can be re-evaluated, I would like to suggest allowing this range of versions. Alternatively, there could be a separate category for them. If the reason is that they are hard to find, v1.03.0012 was uploaded to archive.org a few years ago.
Speaking of a separate category, I think it would be fun for there to be categories for v1.02 or before. That might be excessive, I'm not sure, so it's not my main concern.
The .1000 and up rule was made a long time ago under the old moderation team. It is something I am open to change! Also, I'd probably just end up splitting the versions on the leaderboard so they aren't all fighting each other. Speaking about 1.02, this is the type of thing I might be more open to opening a separate game page for it instead of putting it here, as it is a bit more different.
Yes, I would be very excited to see .0012-.0072 allowed on the boards again. In fact Broodlai has done a few random track speedruns of v1.03.0016, one of them recently being on ESA. Maybe the addition would increase activity just a bit.
I think it's also safe to add these versions because CTGP has been about as good about patching ultra shortcuts since 1.02, so there wouldn't be a heavy advantage. Not to mention custom tracks generally being longer back in the day.
Speaking of 1.02, yes I think that would be better to put on its own page if yall get to that. Versions 1.00-1.01 also probably couldnt be on the same board as 1.02 because they have less tracks for all track speedruns and they would get an advantage from having more unpatched ultras. I'd imagine those would have to be put on a third board that no one would play on LOL. Or maybe you decide to go the Chaotic route and allow them for single cup speedruns. (They didnt even have the random button yet so no random track speedruns either.)
Very stream of consciousness this time I'm just excited about the idea and want to talk about my thoughts more
Honestly, I'd like to finish the IGT move project (that has been on hold for too long ahah) and we'll see for that after!
