Can this game be ran on quest 3? It can record good quality. I was reading the rules, and it stated you needed an in game timer. Why can the run not be timed, or use the in game time displayed after beating it?
The leaderboard uses the in game timer. If the time is displayed at the end of the run in game it's probably valid. I don't know if quest has a setting to enable the timer during the run but it helps verify runs aren't splice. Another reason the in game timer is used is because it removes loads so people running on different hardware are on an even playing field. Doing load removal by hand after the run is annoying and prone to errors.
I know for PC there is a settings file you have to open and edit in order to enable the speedrun timer to be displayed during the run. Hopefully it's possible to enable that somehow on the quest version. If not you should ping the dev in their discord to see if they can add a setting in game. If you submit a run on quest that shows everything (recording starts in lobby, run happens where time is shown at end) then it'll probs get approved. This game isn't the most popular to speedrun so most runs will get approved.
Also sorry for the late reply, if you are interested in running this game and being board moderator let me know, then you can just approve you're own runs.
Yeah I’m interested. I actually tried to contact all mods and none of their socials worked and the discord on this game is a vr discord so I got lost there. Thanks a lot for the response
Just added you as a moderator. I added the quest 2 and 3 as supported platforms and also changed the discord link to a permanent invite to compound's discord which is run by the dev, feel free to message them there if you have any questions, they're cool. Try not to make any drastic changes to the board layout unless you know what you're doing. The ui of src and the variable system has always been kind of jank and it's easy to break things. Adding new categories and verifying runs is pretty straight forward but dm me if you have any issues and I'll respond eventually.
thanks, just saw this, been really busy working on Luigi's mansion. I'm pretty traditional with speedrun rulesets, i doubt id make any changes at all that weren't completely necessary and discussed with a majority of whoever runs. ill work on some Compund runs in the near future.
I was looking into running this game again. I used to play on Oculus Rift S but now I'm playing it on Quest 3. I was able to get the in-game timer on the Rift S but I'm having a hard time finding out how to make it happen on the Quest 3. Does anybody know how to get the in-game timer on screen on the Quest 3?
I've looked into it some and it seems like Meta has blocked the privileges to get into your appdata folder on the Quest 3 nowadays. I'm just a little stuck and I'm seeing if anybody else has figured out how to get this operational because I have an interest in playing the game again but not being able to have the in-game timer present will mark the run as unverified which I'd like to prevent. I'll hold off on doing any serious attempts until I hear back from somebody on here but I may just have to deal with it if we cannot get the timer on Quest 3, if that is the case well I guess I'll try to do some runs in the near future anyways lol.
So question. If I ran the game without the in-game timer but I wasn't playing on a loop could that work for timing the run? The game does show an accurate time at the end of the run which could be used for the time right?
And I do see why we wouldn't time runs using that time at the end of the run. Having the in-game timer present throughout the whole run better validates the run, since you could potentially catch splicing if the timer doesn't match up. But has this community really seen that happen so far? There has only been 41 submitted and verified runs ever, and there hasn't been any newly submitted runs in over 2 years. So I'm just wondering if that rule needs to hold true nowadays.
A workaround could be to open up the wrist screen and show the seed panel on each floor to help. Or I'd be willing to even use LiveSplits and manually pause my timer on the loading screens and then at the end of the run we can compare the LiveSplits time and the total run time and they should be really close, and we could just use the time given in-game at the end of the run, but we'd have two times for the run to better help validate the run. I think this could be a good workaround for the Quest 3 users that want to speedrun this game.
