During the Instant FFM discussion, many runners were interested in having a site wide split of the Furnace Fun Moves glitch. Because new runs on the FFM leaderboards now allow an unofficial version, runners were eager to find a compromise. With unanimous community approval, all categories on the main leaderboard for N64/NSO are now split into FFM and No FFM.
Thank you to Wedarobi for providing the scripting to make this leaderboard transfer possible.

Any% No FFM has been created and runs done before the discovery of FFM have been moved there

Runs on the No FFM leaderboards must be done on an official Banjo-Kazooie ROM (Everdrive allowed)
We truly appreciate your patience while we set up and migrated these categories.
After a lengthy discussion and vote by active members of the community, the ROM Hack known as "Instant FFM" is now allowed in every category that utilizies the Furnace Fun Moves glitch. This applies to N64 and Xbox only.
What is Instant FFM?
Instant FFM is a ROM Hack that automatically sets up the Furnace Fun Moves glitch. This skips having to go into another file and initiating a game over in a Furnace Fun minigame before an FFM speedrun starts. This ROM Hack doesn't change anything else about the game, except the Grunty timer, which you can learn more about from this video explanation created by Azmi.
The moderation team is actively working to support this new game version on the leaderboard. As well as adding support, an annotation will now say what version of the game the run was performed on. This allows Instant FFM runs to be distinguished from official ROM versions.
If you have any questions regarding this change, please ask in the Banjo Speedrunning Discord.
The latest addition to the leaderboard are Individual Levels! ILs are not meant to represent level segments of a 100% speedrun but instead focus on achieving the fastest time to complete the view totals screen for each level.
Here is some important info to prepare you for ILs:
- Level must be untouched before starting the run
- You may bring anything into the level within RTA ability and with no sandcastle cheats (specifics mentioned in the rules)
- Timing starts on the first frame the screen goes black after touching the level loading zone and ends on last collectible (exception is Spiral Mountain and Grunty Fight)
- Snapper Practice ROM is allowed for fast resets. We urge you to check the rules on how to properly use it to avoid run rejections
Again, we urge you to read the rules for the specific level you want to submit to avoid potential rejections.
The leaderboard changes have been officially completed! Thanks to Wedarobi, with the power of his scripting, we now have categories sorted by Console first (Nintendo 64, Xbox, Nintendo Switch) rather than category (100%, Any%, Any% Restricted, etc).
Here's a breakdown of everything else changed:
- N64 and NSO Rules have been edited to remove Xbox exclusive tricks from being mentioned
- Any% No POG has now been added (All Any% runs before the discovery of POG have been moved here)
- Any% No RBA has been changed to Any% Restricted (It now officially bans POG on Xbox)
