At Buckeye Speed Bash 2022 while playing in a practice room, I achieved this time of 5:37. Unfortunately, I was not recording at the time since I was...well...just practicing. I'm actually quite happy I did this because it tells me one very important thing: It is possible.
A few things stuck out to me in this run. For one thing, very few time losses from long putts. Usually if I lost some time it was needing to make very short point blank putts. But more importantly was getting a chip in from the fairway on Hole 18 on the 3rd shot. This is very rare and also very situational, but somehow had all the luck in the world I needed when no camera was watching.
Long story short, I'm going to be getting back into running this for my target of 5:3X. I do not care if I don't match the 5:37 I got at BSB, I will be happy to see a :39.
My strategy going forward will be to be as perfect as possible through at least the first 9 holes. At the very least, starting hole ten with a time around 2:40-2:45 will give a legitimate shot. That number is based on the splits I made from my 5:44 run which ended hole 9 at 2:46. There last 9 holes have as much time to gain as they have to lose, so hopes are very high going forward. But strong start means you have some time to sacrifice losing on the tougher holes or not getting the perfect chip in on 18.
