I know there used to be a discord for ark speedrunning cause I ran it. Felt like going on nostagla trip and saw the new leaderboard, looks really good ty for fixing the mess that existed from back when i speedran this shit. I get if you dont want one given the history of this games discords.

Hey there, yeah I do have one made, I just haven't invited anyone but the other mod to it yet. I got a lot of requests for it so a few days ago I set one up but as soon as the other mod takes a look at it and makes sure the permissions are setup right I'll be posting it. I am aware there was some stuff that happened from looking at the forums here, hopefully we don't get drama again but well see.

What happened in the ARK Speedrun community before?

I don't think there will be drama again everyone who used to run it has moved on. there was a lot of drama back in 2020-2022 ish. TLDR is -really werid rules originally created by russian guy mod who disappeared around Ukraine war, i picked it up as mod with some german guy maverick. -everyone in the community disliked maverick. some disputes over rules/unfair use of rules.

-one day he submitted a few runs that clearly were cheated it least/he "couldnt explain". he was banned/kicked as mod

• i tried to remake the rules but gave up after since everyone else left by this point from a drama that was also going on

• a friend group of 3 were also trolling/racist/trying to dox people etc kept griefing the discords and spamming etc. first discord died cause the original owner gave them mod. thats the short version, also a load of the speedrun tech commonly used was patched at the time making the mostly glitchless runs hard to replicate.

also with regard to the rules whats your guys views on spawning in the artifacts? i want to start with a scorched earth speedrun but we used to spawn in the artifacts cause the game doesnt spawn some of them in until 20 minutes from entering a cave. I think this was fixed on the island but still exists on scorched earth

I also think waiting for the artifacts to spawn on their own is a huge waste of time, but Dash and I currently don’t have any other good solutions. We both want to use console commands as sparingly as possible.

I would love an invite to the discord when it becomes available. I've been running the island and I think I may have some ideas on how to improve the time.
