We have added the following rule to 1.2.1+ and 2.0+ subcategories:

"New runs must be played on the latest version; the latest version is 3.0.3 as of April 29th, 2026."

Previously the rule said: "Timer ends on the regaining control of your character after talking to Tom Nook and paying off your first debt."

This was a little ambiguous, as some runs stopped the timer when the final text box cleared:

Others waited until the camera faded out to neutral (or somewhere in between):

For consistency and easier timing, the new timer stop rule is: "Timer stops when the last text box closes after paying your first debt to Tom Nook."

All existing runs have been checked and re-timed as needed - thanks.

Reason Some runners lose the timer because of the "checking if the software can be played..." message.

Also, I retime by -1.5s everyone's personal bests on speedrun.com.
