I'm a fairly casual player so I'd be surprised if no one has found this yet/if there isn't a better method, but I wanna share anyways just in case.
This tech takes place in 2-1-R, a level that as far as I know isn't typically possible to complete all of the dares in one go due to the shifting path availability. What I found out is that if you can get the 8 million roads to activate before you reach the second wall ride after the bridge construction, you can jump from the spray can wall to the 8 million roads wall and with a well-timed jump go from the wall to the pipe that leads to the film, allowing you to avoid going on the full 8 million roads pipe and have an extra lap to grab the boostpad that is easily missed.
I managed to pull this tech off 3 times so far: once on accident, once while trying to figure out how it may have been done, and finally on the run where I full cleared the level. My pathing on that final run looked like this: go through the level building my meter as much as possible while grabbing every spray can and wall boostpad I can, in addition to the 1st crash dummy and the crash dummy right before the construction. if possible, hit the dummy on that first wall ride post construction, if not get one of the other dummies. jump from the spray can over to the 8 million roads, jump at the top of the wall near the end, and collect the film. grab the tunnel shortcut either this lap or the next (I did both for max speed) and when you get to the bridge, take the left path that is now reachable for the spray can. Final lap grab any boostpads you have missed and finish.
I suspect how this works is that because of how jumping off a wall ride keeps your momentum in a different way to running out of wallride space. This difference allows for a timing in which you have the perfect height to hit the pipe and start a rail grind.
As stated at the beginning I am not 100% sure I didn't miss an intended way to get every dare in 1 go, nor do I believe my finding is uncommon seeing as I succeeded it 3 separate times despite being far from a pro. However, I am still sharing this because I don't want my assumptions on the importance/ease of discovery to unintentionally delay this finding even if only by a couple seconds.
Also apologies for the lack of video/photos, I only just managed to pull this off and didn't think to record my attempts thinking I wouldn't succeed until tomorrow.
Interesting !
tbh, YYZ fast trigger is something runners know how to do, we can trigger YYZ before the first tunnel shortcut on this map.
For the rest, nice catch! we will check that soon
This was very appreciated by the speedrunning server! Most of the work done so far is in the any% run type, all gold medals has MUCH less theorycrafting in it so far.
Hello everyone! Milliseconds have been added with the official update that just released today, usable via the detailed timer option in your settings menu of the game. All IL runs from now on will be expected to have that turned on. If you do not, we will likely still accept the run, but default the
