Since the release of the game, there has been a bug in which if you reset while the shells are being shown on the table, the game thinks you died rather than reset. I will call this bug the WRB bug from here on in this post. The WRB bug is the bug responsible for Danger skip, and also the reason behind the rules regarding inputting your name on the waiver being in the recording, the latter of which is the discussion of this post
Since the WRB bug has been discovered, with the exception of Any%, any runs in which the bug occurred cannot be submitted. There are two primary reasons for this. It was banned in Any% NMG because it can 1. skip rounds and 2. skip the dialogue during round one. It was banned in Double or Nothing purely to maintain consistency between categories, and not because it skips any dialogue.
That is why this post is being made. There have been plenty of runs that outside of which, were completely verifable, and done on Double or nothing runs. I've discussed this with some of the runners and feel its worth getting community opinions on the rules. The rules regarding it in Any% NMG would stay the same regardless, as its use is still considered a major glitch within the "story mode". However, as nothing changes when the bug occurs within Double or Nothing, as long as it's done within the first round, it's worth having a discussion with the community regarding your thoughts on the rule applying to Double or Nothing runs.
Should there be no responses to this post, the rule will be changed, as its the only feedback I have recieved in either direction.
As I understand it, the question is, is it possible to allow this glitch to be made in the "Double or Nothing" category?
More or less yes. The question simplified would be, should we remove the rule requiring inputting the name on the waiver from the double or nothing rules, because as long as the bug occurs on the first round it doesnt save any time.
Maybe I don't understand something, of course... But if you ask for my opinion, I don't see the point in removing this rule.
The only reason for removing the rule would be to allow runs that are otherwise verifiable but have the bug occur to be verified. A handful of top 3/WR runs have been/will be rejected due to this rule. I also personally think it makes sense to keep it restricted entirely to Any%, whether it saves time or not, but I wanted to get more community opinions on this. I will leave this thread open for another week or two before I make any changes.
