As of recently, I've decided to start running this game, here on this site. Now the question remains whether other people are actually still speedrunning this game. I have not seen any runs apart from those on youtube, which I find quite a shame, as this game has a lot of potential optimization wise and is generally very interesting and challenging as a speedgame in regards of your stamina being almost unusable. Additionally, I was wondering whether we could set up some rules for the game. I would mostly recommend for main Any%, to just be able to use the night vision, seen as the other weapons/items are overpowered and should be divided into their own section.

I hope to bring some people back to speedrunning it, although I definitely see the problems that this game has speedgame wise.

Wow, it's actually awkward to see anyone posting about this game 😃

So last June me and a friend got into it and did the coop campaign (we did quite a few runs together, but then realized it's too clunky going together, so after that we started running separately). Personal best was somewhat below 30mins (1 player coop campaign).

The thing with the game is it crashes kinda often (at least the coop campaign).
Personally, I found the solo campaign a bit too long and tedious for me to consider running it.

If you want to help developing this section (rules and whatnot), I can give you editing rights.

I have also been working on trying to route Cry Of Fear Any%, and agree that there should be other categories as the Infinite Ammo gun makes everything a cakewalk. Nightvision seems to be understandable for a run, and that would probably be the only thing needed for a basic Any%.

I have also done a Doctor's Story speedrun, and think that that would be an interesting separate run, due to the run only being around 5 minutes and nonstop. Could be fun to see how optimized it could get, as my time is 5:27 but could be way lower.

I would be up to pass notes and such regarding Any% or Doctor's Story.

I gave you both mod rights, feel free to add categories/notes/whatever.

Do you happen to use IRC by any chance? We could get on a channel and probably discuss how to get more attention or any other stuff.

I don't use IRC, but if you would want to do that, I'm up for it. I'll be adding the Doctor's Story run, and will hopefully be having a full run out soon.

Sorry for being away so long, I somehow didn't expect an answer. 😮
But yeah, I was trying a couple runs on it, but somehow have lost interest for a while. I might return to it in the near future though and try out some routing.
As of now I haven't really found major glitches, only a few bugs while using the night vision. (some textures just didn't load and were completely black + the sound glitched out completely).

Damn dude the texture glitch might be something with the game or our pc's as I used to get it a lot when I used to speedrun nightmare on the beta version but I usually got it after 2 hours and 30 minutes of gameplay and ever since the game came out of beta I only got it like once or twice but it went away for some reason but if it does appear it usually means that the game will most likely crash due to not enough memory but a warning if you decide to speedrun campaign always save before or after you get the 2 fuses for the subway for the first time as your game will most likely crash not sure if its just me someone might have to test it out as well but if it appears it's pretty easy to remove just save, close the game and reload the game but it means losing a few seconds so R I P and with the sound glitch if it appears just save and reload it should get fixed if not then you just have to go with it as It did appear a lot when I speedrunned on the beta version but rarely on the standalone version.

By any chance can one of the mods add these categories (Easy any%,Normal any%,Hard any% And Nightmare any%) since I'm not sure witch difficulty any% fits with so lmfa0 and rip me ;^) as I do speedrun the game on every difficulty but I'm not sure about adding the no overpowered weapons category as it's a 2-5 minute difference in a speedrun but that's up to the modders choice, if it does appear then I wouldn't mind doing a speedrun for it. :^)

If you plan on speedrunning campaign heres a little chart on how low you can get on each difficulty I'm currently doing nightmare so it may be a bit off for a while same with normal planning on re-doing it ;^)

ALRIGHT I'M BACK, SORRY FOR BEING AWAY FOR TOO LONG I was having internet problems and I still do but it's time to break this game again :^) a heads up to any new speed runners please don't modify the cfg files to your liking :6) as we did decide to change two things but I forgot to post about it a few months ago and those changes are only to the doctors health for hard (170 hp) and nightmare (200 hp) mode, this cfg file change will probably never get reverted unless people vote for it so fk :^) also to make everyone happy I decided to put up the highly voted no unlocks category as I keep seeing people wanting it so here you go and good luck to all who will speedrun this category :^)
