Regarding built-in solar sensor features on some emulators
Posted 11 months ago by

Hello,

Lately we've noticed some issues related to built-in solar sensor features that some emulators have (for example mGBA).

For those who don't know, these features allows you to bind keys to adjust the solar sensor values, this means that patching the games with the solar sensor patch would not be necessary.

However, recently we've discovered that the built-in solar sensor features are inaccurate.

Some things related to the solar sensor / solar gauge overall have issues:

  • Solls at solar stations does not increase properly (noticed on Boktai 1)
  • Overheat does not seem to behave as it should (happening sooner or later than intended)
  • Overall japanese versions does not seem to work with the built-in features

There could also be other things that does not behave as they should, however at the moment we do not have a full list.

Thus, for emulators runs, we will be forcing the use of Prof9's solar patches until built-in features are fixed (as in, all solar sensor-related behaviors working properly)

If there are runs on the leaderboards that were using built-in solar sensor features, these will stay until decided otherwise.
