Hi,

I've never done any speed running before but I thought I'd really like to give this a go, at least casually, because it looks really fun.

I'm a bit stuck though and would appreciate a bit of advice. The thing I'm struggling with is bunny hopping/crouch sliding. I've watched a couple of videos; I'm not pressing w and I have jump on the mouse wheel but I'm just not building any momentum with any of the things I'm trying and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I even ended up going backwards a few times.

Any advice you can give to a super beginner would be appreciated.

At first start learning bhop. Don`t forget to strafe in the same direction as your inputs so if you press A - strafe to the left, D - to the right. Try not to strafe really fast but instead smoothly. And ofc dont forget to turn on "Always Run" in setting and always use crouch button. My recomendation is start bhoping from jumping so you will get enough speed to work with. First map of Anomalous Materials is pretty good for training, also you can learn it on every Questionable Ethics map.
When you will get the idea you can learn sliding - basically same thing but without jumping and a little bit harder because of corner speed. You don`t need to be really fast when you are learning but should instead focus on maintaining current speed. As for me, kovic tutorial has a perfect explanation of bhop or sliding.
You can ask any question in discord or catch some runners when they are streaming and ask for help.
