General tricks

• The Police Beetle is the best car, never use anything else.
• Always start races by pressing L.
• Keep the AI away with the siren.
• When you did a big mistake like failing a jump or got a very bad random jump off the road, just press L immediately.

Driving

• Only use as few control stick inputs as possible to keep your speed high. Watch the speedometer and learn how to constantly keep it close to 200 Km/h. Using Km/h over Mp/h is recommended for more accuracy.
• Try to stick to the ground as much as you can, every jump slows you down. Memorize the spots where random jumps can happen, A-tapping can be helpful.
• After using a nitro, don't use a second one while still having boost speed. Save the other nitro for the next lap.
• When using a nitro, the game will sometimes give you a weird braking animation that slows you down. Tapping A can help to avoid this.
• When using Reset Warps, don't always go for the earliest possible frame to press L. This is because in some cases, delaying the Warp will respawn you slightly farther ahead. Examples are the ski jump ramp in Mount Mayhem and the warp at the start of laps 2 and 3 in Metro Madness.

Techniques

• Z-turns: When approaching the turn, release A and hold Z. When the turn is complete, release Z and hold A again. When done optimally, you should only get a very small speed drop.
• Handbrake jumps: When starting a jump, press C-down and hold the control stick left or right. This can increase the length of the jump and is a good backup strat in case you lost too much speed before a jump.
