I think it is impossible at the present time to do speedrun in a fair way now I explain myself

I calculate on the old WR run (36m) I calculate from the moment there is a mark to finish at a map or a kinematic launch, the WR had for 05m03s in my run the same calculation I I have it for 06m06s so let's imagine that I do exactly the same run as the WR I would be 1 minute late just because of the loading time which is absolutely not equal

what I propose so that it is that the skill, the deck and the route is to cut the timer each time we lose control of our character and to resume it from the moment we are in the new refuge

I agree, and on my Act 1 run I even mentioned how I found that the timer being real time based is a bit dumb, as people with lower specs/hardware get punished with their time simply for not having better hardware. I did my runs with the game running on a HDD + 2700x, I do wonder if the time would've been a lot lower had I installed the game on a SSD and I had a better CPU.

My original idea for the timing rules are that it should be like a full level leaderboard. Time starts either by locking the character/deck (or opening the safe room door) and ends when the completed screen shows up. For each and every single level. Yes this makes timing for a full act or full run harder, but it'd make it as fair as possible for everyone no matter their hardware.

Let me explain something here, as it's relevant to what you're both thinking.

What you are both getting at here, is that Loading times are what differentiate runs right now, because it is timed Real Time. The game has only just released, so it's practically impossible for someone to just magically create a load remover a couple days after it has released. Especially a game that has no promise of an active community or runners. Even LESS likely that any of the active community members or runners KNOW how to make a load remover for a game.

What I'm trying to say is.... Yeah, it's Real Time, and that's not necessarily fair, but it's all we have right now. Load Removal is the way to go, and manually timing things is just sloppy. Especially in-between "controlling character". That just doesn't cut it, imo. Even when you AREN'T controlling you character, there are still things you must do that should count for the timer. Picking deck cards, menuing to pick the Acts, and certain cutscenes, unskippable or not. It's a part of the full game run, and only Loading times are what should be cut.

Considering the game is so new, I wouldn't even really worry about stuff like this. There's a lot of stuff you're going to lose time to, and it will be a while before you're actually finding yourself in a "pay to win" situation. That simply won't happen, and you should focus on just running/playing the game, and enjoying it in it's early/fresh state.

Thank you for bringing it up so I could clear up some stuff. I was a bit disheartened by the comments in your first run @pustalorc. You don't know me, but I hope you know now that just because I'm a moderator, doesn't mean I'm just going to make my own rules and act like the king of the game or something. I'm here to set the foundation, assure that the runners understand the rules and unwritten laws of speedrunning, and foster, what I would like to see being, a community that can just have fun running alongside each other.

Nothing is impossible. It suffices to reduce the loading times at the end of the run. More time for the moderator to confirm the timers but no one forced anyone to have to check the runs. The rules you make them as you want, but it must be the same for everyone, no one has to pay to improve their timer. We can very well set the rule that the timer starts when the door opens. I don't find it logical that a person with a better SSD, PC, ... could be one step ahead

I think it would also be appreciable to add, as CoCa-Chan said, the individual levels and not the complete act.

Well, clearly, nobody made a load remover @darek_p50. So yeah, nothing is impossible, but it's pretty clear that it didn't happen. In fact, I'd say 99% of Load Removers don't get created the day of release, or even the day after, or even the day after that. It's not an easy process. Also, the rules ARE the same for everyone, and nobody has to pay to improve their timer. That's a bit of a dramatic thing to say when the game has just come out and everyones gameplay/runs aren't even optimized yet.

Having a load remover made is the best solution, and the Level Leaderboard is clearly going to happen, and I intended for there to be one. Just need time to actually set it up correctly. Not only that, but SRC just had an overhaul and I'm still getting used to it, like everyone else. The load remover is going to have to be made by someone who has the experience, and availability. I will do a bit of digging around to find someone suitable, unless someone else reaches someone before me. Either works.

It's definitely speedrunnable, its just the same road blocks as every other new release :D

I've been running Act 1 and toying around with a Reflex/Melee build because you can gain speed by bonking Ridden on the head with melee weapons.

Game is super fun, looking forward to the Discord opening up :)

@maxylobes I'd like to apologize for the comments I made during the first run. I had way too high expectations for basically a just released game, and a wrong mindset of it needing to be super perfect rules right off the bat.

All good, man. With enough cooperation, and a solid group effort, we can all make this game fun, accessible, and fair. Let's just enjoy the game while it's fresh, and work on the more technical stuff over time. I'm sure someone out there can get a functioning load remover for us, and I'll create the level leaderboard over the weekend.
