Advice for recording PS2 gameplay

I've been learning the speedrun for this game but I'm struggling with the idea of recording my gameplay since emulators are banned.

I imagine the easiest solution would be a HDMI adapter with a capture card that's linked to both your TV and laptop. Is this the case?

Does anyone have any cheap recommendations?

Thanks a bunch:)

I can only give you what I have; I have a retrotink, which is an expensive Component to HDMI scaler. But something cheap would work (do mind that it might cause delay). And that going into a capture card.

But if you want cheap; cheap av to hdmi scaler, cheap capture card. Maybe

I use an elgato game capture HD which is discontinued but very easy to pick up online for pretty cheap (might wanna spring for the rca cable for PS1 stuff if yr interested and can find one) passing through an hdmi splitter to allow it to capture PS2 footage. I connect my laptop to 2 TV's (one for pc/rlly just obs and the other for Ape 2)

Admittedly, not the sharpest fidelity (I think it outputs at 480/720p(?) but still good and once again, pretty accessible if you aren't too concerned with having the highest end gear.

Hope this helps n you have fun goofing around in this goofy game! If you need any help, hit up the Discord sometime.

Thanks both for the suggestions, I should have a working setup by the end of the week now.

I'll always have fun goofing in the ape escape games, but I have really enjoyed learning this speedrun:)

Will do! I'll jump in if I have any other questions or when I finally have a run to upload.

Thanks again both!
