Trouble with the table glitch

I can not for the life of me seem to get the walking on the table glitch to work. I feel like I am getting frame perfect pauses and I feel like I am doing it perfectly but my character just walks back instead of glitching on to the table. I've tried on both the actual gamecube and an emulator, neither are working. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Do I need to use a specific memory card, does it need to be at a certain time, do I need to have a certain button pushed that I don't know about?

Any and all info would be appreciated :)

Make sure you are using a 2x1 table, and also be sure that you are pausing to drop the table at the correct moment. You can use the wallpaper located in the top left house to check this.

You want the top of the inventory aligned with the brick mortar of the wallpaper. This is noted by the thin red line in this image.

I really appreciate the response.

Have you ever encountered an issue where it wouldn't work for you? I'm 95% sure I can't get it because I am not good enough at the timing yet, but I'm surprised at this point that I haven't gotten it a single time and I just want to make sure it's because I'm bad and not because I'm using a certain disc or gamecube or some other stupid shit (I hope this makes sense)

Memory cards, system time, console/emu or anything else like that doesn't matter. You just need to make sure of the following:

  • you have a correct house setup (a line of shirts alongside the wall)
  • you position yourself (by grabbing a shirt, like you plan to move it)
  • you are using a 2x1 table
  • you are running in a straight line when you pause to drop
  • you drop at the correct moment

If you feel something is wrong and you cannot get on the table, leave and then reenter your house. You can watch any of the runs on the leaderboard to see how it's done. Also, if you can record your attempts, I may be able to point out what is wrong (if anything is).

I got it to work! I wasn't running entirely straight and it was messing up but I just now got it. Thanks for the help!
