Faster than sprint movement (kzslide/pillslide)
Start a slide while adrenaline is active. Then hit F1 -> let go of forward -> F1 again (per AntiStreaks' find). This should cause a faster sliding state which will become apparent when the adrenaline wears off.
Because the setup for this is so cumbersome, it's probably not useful anywhere for right now.
Here's a video showing off a comparison and a mockup strat that's probably slower than the current route.
Edit: Video comparing WR Rub Out to my pillslide Rub Out.
Fantastic information and discovery, thank you to everyone involved :)
From what I can tell, this is the method:
- Start Bombs Away (or Vigilante? why use this instead if it can't "die")
- Force OM = 0 (rampage completion)
- Start G-Spotlight
- Force OM = 0 again (die)
- Save to avoid 7:00, because that time fails the mission
- Acquire both an ambulance and a PCJ, park them near the elevator used in G-Spotlight
- Hold a call, get on PCJ and trigger elevator cutscene
- Let go of call, get off PCJ, enter ambulance and trigger Paramedic
- Instapass!
Am I correct?
It also seems (presently) not worth the crash possibility until we figure out what exactly causes models to unload.
Does anyone here want to run a VC category with all side-missions in addition to what is already done in the run? Doesn't seem like it, so why change it?
What's more important is that the run is enjoyable. I find All Missions in its current state enjoyable. It's pretty technical with the duping required and other strats that are used in the WR route. I think there is no point in changing the category the way it is. Continue to only require 0318 opcode completion, as stated by Lighnat0r and Nick007J.
I do not think the category should be moved to miscellaneous. All Missions fills an important gap between any% and 100%.
There's nothing misc or arbitrary about this category, in my opinion. As stated, it can be defined from a technical standpoint as "reach all 0318 opcodes." Missions that are excluded from the run do not sport a 0318 opcode.
I'm really into this idea and hopefully a lot of people will participate. Any version should be allowed, including Japanese version. Conversion is easy, and the run is safer than ever from RNG. Even Cop Land strats aren't that bad if you have trash cars in memory.
Hope to see this happen. It'll be exciting.
I've given you the mod status. Good luck!
If you need any help you can always give me a shout.
DeNN1sk0, run setup.exe in compatibility mode for Windows XP, or Windows 98/ME. That's what worked for me.
I see your point, ACuteStreamMonster, but renaming to "Any% (Classic Ruleset)" doesn't accomplish anything. As far as "jargon should be coherent"
jargon: "special words or expressions that are used by a particular profession or group and are difficult for others to understand."
That last clause is the one I'm getting at. No matter what we call it, it will not make sense the first time you see it. "Any% Classic Ruleset" is in no way more coherent than just "Classic." But how is this? It's because even though upon first glance, "Any% Classic Ruleset" seems more coherent, it still begs the question - "what is the classic ruleset?" Whether you Google it or ask it, you'll get your answer. Same thing if it was just "Classic" - Google or ask, you'll get the exact same answer.
No matter what changes we make to category names, it won't change anything. Moreover, Any% only seems "coherent" because you already know what it is. When you first encounter the term, it's going to seem alien... until it's explained, or researched.
Trevor% is a poor name, I agree, but renaming it won't change the fact that, upon first encounter with the term, it will require some research. You suggest we use "The Jewel Store Job RTA (Classic Ruleset)" but that's still a name that requires some research to understand it. Classic Ruleset? RTA? Do you have to beat the Jewel Store Job or just unlock it?
Anyway, confusing terms that don't make sense to outsiders - that's what jargon is. No matter what field, what term, or what definition, you're going to think "what the hell?" when you hear/see said term.
You are mounting it with Daemon Tools Lite or something, right?
When it's mounted search through the .iso and find setup.exe, and go from there
Leaderboards to add:
NG Reset (No Grav Bug) NG+ NG 100%
Correct?
Also if anyone is interested in taking this game over, let me know. I don't play this game anymore, it'd be better to have someone more connected with the community managing this leaderboard.
It's fine, but it's not effective. "Classic" is a term that defines a set of rules. "Classic, Ending C" is a term that defines a set of rules, with one of the rules in the term itself. Why? That's redundant. Unless there's "Classic, Ending A" or "Classic, Ending B" there's no reason to make the distinction.
Here's a better solution, I feel: all runs are "Classic" and during submission to the leaderboard, the player is required to submit what ending they chose, which is then displayed publicly in the run's entry. This is similar to how on the Crash Team Racing leaderboards, players are required to submit what character they used. So instead of "Any% Coco" and "Any% N. Cortex" we just have "Any%" and curious parties can see what character the top runners use.
Disclaimer: I don't run this game. The authority is in the hands of the leaderboard mods, and the opinions of the runners of this game should bear weight over mine.
Shit. I'm late to this thread. Sorry, I was making a food run on the way here... I probably should've asked you guys if you wanted anything, but I was afraid to, because of all the shouting I could hear from across town.
Anyway.
Has this thread now devolved from "Forcing Ending C is pointless" into "What should the 'official' title of this category be?"
Honestly, if we're going to change "Classic%" to "Ending C, No Mission Skips/Taxis" ... well, that's a mouthful, isn't it?
The argument to change it from "Classic%" to "Ending C blablabla" is... it's easier to understand? Well, at the same time, what the hell is "Any%?" Any% is "beat the game, no cheating." Right? Well, why not just call it "Beat the Game" so that way people new to speedrunning don't come into streams going "WTF is any%?"
Actually what is the term "speedrunning" anyway? Why not just call it "beating games as fast as possible" to get rid of all the "what is speedrunning" questions
Anyway my point is... there's gonna be jargon when it comes to speedrunning. We all know that. Jargon can take its form as shorthand. "Any%" is shorter than "Beat the Game" just like "Classic%" is shorter than "Ending C, No Mission Skips/Taxis"
People that aren't in the know will become in the know. This is Kyle's argument that I'm basically taking, but yeah. It's like when people say BYOB instead of Bring Your Own Bottle, or RSVP instead of Répondez s'il vous plaît. When someone inevitably asks, "what's that mean?" they get an easy to understand answer. Just like when someone asks "What's classic%?" they'll get "Ending C, no mission skips or taxis."
ezpz.
Edit: The change I'd argue in favor for is removing the percentage tag from Classic. "Classic Rules" or even just "Classic" works fine. Same thing with Trevor%. That name kills me. It should be "Unlock Trevor" or "Beat Jewel Heist" or something.
E isn't the best sprint key. It's best to keep your WASD digits (index, middle and ring fingers) dedicated to just those keys during movement. Example, moving diagonally right (W and D) could be clunky with E as sprint.
I use Space for sprint, since my pinky sucks and I like using my thumb as it's easier to keep a rhythm.
I also use Q and E for weapon switch, because I'm a weirdo. Almost everyone uses scrollwheel, but I've found success in Q/E. Up to you.
Instead of holding Space (primary sprint) when getting into vehicles, I hold Left Ctrl (secondary sprint). Also a weirdo personal change, but hey, it works for me. I never use Left Ctrl for Sprint on foot.
Unbind vehicle submission from Numpad + to prevent accidental submission activations/deactivations when using Num 9 (such as during Pizza Boy). I use CAPS LOCK for submission.
That's... about it, I think. GL to you!
What about JF duping? Would we restart the game after doing it? If no, why not? If duping messes with the game, why wouldn't we restart the game after JF duping? Is it because the duping effects only take place after multiple dupes in a row? But where do you draw the line? Two, three, four, or just five?
I'm against this change until there's evidence that the post-duping changes are more than cosmetic. Currently, implementing this change doesn't accomplish anything helpful or useful.
i think we all know this is a better way to do it, yea.
hello. ryedawg14 told me to post this here - this is my bounty for a non-sub1 VC runner to get sub1 - http://bit.ly/1Byg4LL
I can provide English commentary for the stream and also am willing to participate in GTA VC races outside of the ones I submitted - Chaos%, SSA%, etc.
how would the lineup be any different though?
