Hey, the game's manual is uploaded on the Guides section of this leaderboard. Everything is pretty much explained there: https://www.speedrun.com/drag_strip/guides/8hd12
RetroArch and RALibretro should work fine. Not sure what you mean by game version, but I'm pretty sure all runs were done on game 1, though I don't remember very well.
The game searching is a bit buggy and confusing. The number of games per platform doesn't appear anymore, the variables work but doesn't show them (I ordered the games from "Least Players", and it shows them in that order, but it doesn't tell you how many players it has), and changing pages doesn't work, sometimes it glitches and loads another platform, and thus showing nothing, or if you use variables they are canceled when you go to the next page, so I can for example not know the "Least players" of Page 2 or 3 since it always revert to the default variable (Most active games).
Also, the site is now in spanish for me and I don't know how to change it back to English.
Ok so I feel a bit dumb not being able to figure this out, but how do you increase the speed on this emulator? I realized the computer was printing the text way too slow, and it turned out I had to turn off sound (Apparently that increases the text speed since you don't have to wait for the sound effect lol.) Still, I'm getting around 3 seconds on every single run I did. Is there something I'm missing that makes the inputs faster? How do you get under 2 seconds on this?
Yeah, the Any% run is sort of improvised and is pretty bad in a lot of aspects, but at least it showcases well enough what a full game run would be like. The skip dialogue trick is actually used in Any% unrestricted since it's very optimized and small timesaves like that one are really worth it.
Hey, I was going to return to this game and do some runs, but I have a couple of questions regarding the strats: You say you use a macro, and that the tricks used aren't humanly possible. Doesn't that count as using an external tool, and thus, shouldn't be allowed? I'm in no way calling you out, just asking honestly since you have both WRs and if it wasn't for this forum explanation, I wouldn't have known you used a macro, unlike the other runs, which of course is giving you an advantage.
I also wanted to know what does a skip exactly mean, since in your normal run WR at 0:24 for example, you make a small skip to avoid going to the left part. So I'm a bit confused as to what counts as a skip and what doesn't, and I would like to be sure before doing a run.
Good luck! There's plenty of room for improvement, specially on the last 5 levels.
Hey, I was wondering why does the android version have a separate leaderboard from the rest of the versions? Does it have any differences? Cause unless I'm mistaken it seems to be the same.
Hey I wanted to run this game, but the category confuses me since there aren't any rules. What does "beat the game" mean? The game has different gamemodes and there isn't a main one, so I'm not sure what to submit.
Hey, I was going to do some runs for this game, but I'm a bit confused about some categories since there aren't any rules: What does Joint and Solo mean? What do you have to do in each of them? I understand the rest of the categories, it's just those two that confuse me.
I would like to run the full game, could there be a category for completing the championship mode (All 12 tracks) as fast as possible?
I know this game is pretty much hated but why are there no categories?
Hey, I know this is a meme game and all that stuff, but honestly I feel Drink% shouldn't be hidden as misc, and should be put as the main category instead of the meme ending one. First of all, it's the actual any%, as you have to complete the entire game, and second, there are actual gltiches and tricks in order to get a better time, so it's a run you actually have to learn and practice for it to be good. It unironically took me a lot of grind to get the WR I currently have, so I can safely say it's a legit speedrun. I would even propose to change the name of the cateogory to Any%, but maybe that's too far.
TL;DR: Drink% should be the main category and not in misc., as it's a legit speedrun and literally the true any%.
As the title says, I want to run this, but the leaderboard has way too many dumb categories. Purchasing each car means doing an extreme amount of boring grind since the money you get for each try is really low. This is worse for the last cars which are very expensive. I think it would be better if those categories were deleted and instead leave the "Points" category as the only one.
Oh sure, I forgot to add it. Here it is: https://tiny-waffle-studios.itch.io/darwin
