a lot of stuff has happened, including a super bad update that added comments but had no anti-spam/harassment measures, so people started spamming comments everywhere. scam bots even figured out how to abuse it and left fake nitro links by the thousands only a day after the update if you go to the site forums, you can see a LOT of complaint threads

. some good news is that people are actually talking int he talk forum again, meta stickied a bunch of threads and the talk forums have active conversation now

Speedrunning taking your exams is a good way to fail your exams

School eats a lot of time, so I don't talk much. By the time I eventually read the forums, someone else has probably already said what I would have said, so I just like their post and stay quiet. I only participate in threads when I have something to add.

I actually originally wanted the punchline thread to be a full year, so I'm not disappointed in this thread at all

I have 2 exams today.

One time someone joined the scratch game speedrunning discord, posted a video of a run they did, said something like "I JUST KILLED THE CATEGORY, THIS WORLD RECORD IS UNBEATABLE!!!!!!" and then left the server. I don't like when people call runs unbeatable, because they almost never are, so I spent 10 minutes doing runs and ended up getting the world record. I had never even played the game before this. This turned into a very brief back and forth trading world records, but after I got a sub 20 run, he gave up because he couldn't beat it.

Edit: I was going to get the link to the run, and I found out that he left a comment saying "I'm gonna get this wr." He never did lol. Someone else managed to beat it though. https://www.speedrun.com/osg/run/z5dk1edm

People just like the chain threads I guess. My favorite talk threads are the ones that get discussion going. Threads that ask bland questions like "What is your favorite color?" are boring because people just give their one word answer and move on. My favorite recent talk threads are:

the fastest way to get runs is to find games with lots of short categories, so that you can finish runs quickly. seterra is a popular one, ILs are only a few seconds long and there are hundreds of categories
