You need an everdrive and the usamune ROM, that will let you use save states and go to different worlds right away

It's not exactly "legal" but it's an acceptable way to speedrun, as long as you submit to the emulator category

Have you mapped the controller in the inputs?

it should be a .nes rom, are you patching the practice rom onto a normal SMB rom?

If they are all 1.0 then great. 1.0 seems to be more common.

Find a cartridge on eBay or something, you can tell the difference because on JP 1.1 there's text on the bottom of the sticker that says "NUS-NKTJ--JPN-1", and on 1.0 it says "NUS-NKTJ-JPN"

I was doing 150cc and missed the ramp jump into the cave, so backed it up with a wall jump. When I got into the cave I fell through the floor, I have no idea what happend, anybody know anything about that? Version is JP 1.0 if that helps. I don't have a recording sadly

It sounds like you are mashing too slow. Sometimes if your mashing isn't fast enough Mario will stop longjumping and just jump.

Probably nerves, but it confused me a bit too. He might've known that he was on 14:58 pace and decided that he could afford the timeloss.

But if you go to amazon and type "AV splitter" you'll find one eventually. Make sure to get the correct one, some splitters look similar but are different

So, I was reading the rules for game submission and noticed that there are some types of games that are not accepted, one was general puzzle games. I was trying to submit "Crayola Treasure Adventure" and it's kind of a puzzle game but I'm not sure if it fits into the category of a general puzzle game.
