In both the Original and Remaster there is a 4-letter word you can type at any time: blam.
This causes an animation where Manny explodes for a few seconds then reassembles.
It has proven to also be a useful trick for skipping certain animations/ moments where control of Manny is frozen.
Since this is more of an easter egg than a cheat I believe it can be a valid strat in the spirit of running.
The best example so far is when searching the blue jacket to get the piece of paper,
just type blam at the right time, the window of opportunity is wide enough to do it consistently and easily.
Some lesser moments are biting into Domino's mouthpiece and holstering scythe after the spiderweb.
It's possible there are more moments to "blam", but what I have so far will save you at least 10 seconds.

Only played around with it for a couple of minutes, but it probably has the potential to save minutes. You can cut all kinds of screen transitions short. You're playing a very different game when you are typing blam multiple times per minute, I'll say.
