ok i think i know now lmao--pixel nes? i suspect it's very much the same as super mario bros nes font (with some minor differences like the number eight), which is why i brought it up first
i'm assuming you're using livesplit. right click on your splits then select Edit Layout... then, click on Layout Settings on the lower left of the pop-up window. there's a section called Fonts, where you can change the the text style of various parts of your splits, including your timer.
the typeface that nebula has i think is super mario bros NES font. you can do a quick google search for it. hopefully this helps
it's probably because you're using the pellson practice rom. weird stuff happens sometimes with it, although i don't know the exact details
u can do 8-2 fpg but bbg saves more time over that. in any%, runners don't go for fpg because playing the level as fast as possible then doing fpg gives a 3 on the timer, which yields 3 fireworks, therefore wasting time instead of saving
@RealRemnant, you can still use the continue code if you're willing to continue your run after your game over. hold A before pressing start on the title screen after a game over and it should take you to the last world you were in before you game overed. good luck with the grind :)
also, you can do forwards (instead of backwards) 1 frame walljump so it's more consistent
it's literally a sticky thread and my reply was appropriate for its purpose
Any% 8-4 (Mario & Luigi)
Beat 8-4 (any%) with Mario, then let the ending play thru until it returns to the titlescreen then beat 8-4 with Luigi. Time starts when 400 appears on the timer upon starting the game as Mario and time ends when all sprites are invisible upon grabbing the axe with Luigi.
All loads are removed from the official time:
- between 4-4 to 5-1 (Mario)
- between the end of 8-4 and Peach appearing (Mario)
- between the ending and the titlescreen
- between 4-4 to 5-1 (Luigi)
im not sure about how the fds works but it could either mean it's not working or all the games you've tried aren't working, or might be a connection or cable issue
interesting. would also make champion selection critical
assuming you're using an approved emulator, yes. heck you can even use a guitar hero guitar or even a set of drums. you can't use buttons that are Turbo A nor Turbo B though
there are two cases for it i think, technically speaking, for it to be a reasonable speedrun category, either you must be the only human playing OR all five members of your team are all humans. luckily it's obvious enough to know who the AI teammates are: https://paladins.fandom.com/wiki/Bots
manipulating the server so you don't get any teammates would be a different story. you can't control it at all
but honestly i've been putting some thought into this, maybe i'll give this a try as well once i get some irl stuff out of the way. in the meantime, you can send the mods a DM alongside the video of your run to see what they think
it says in the game request section in the support hub it doesn't accept generic puzzle games, so you're saying that hangaroo isn't a generic puzzle game then?
i've seen that puzzle games aren't allowed but i was wondering if hangaroo can make an exception to those (just like minesweeper and bookworm on windows). is it "famous" enough to be accepted as a game on src?
i'm planning to do a run of it but if it won't be allowed, might as well don't hahaha. any helpful input is appreciated.
here's how the gameplay looks like (not by me though, just a sample):
sorry for the necro but anything that involves online multiplayer wouldn't be viable as a speedrun category afaik, unless there's a way to set up a game with everyone else as bots...
usually mods/verifiers will say why they rejected your run or why they think it's suspicious but you can send them a DM via speedrun.com to ask them what you can provide. moreover, it would be a big help to send your previous recording sessions to the verifier/mod (which would mean you'll have to upload it somewhere like as an unlisted video on yt)
if you meant input display, nohboard is what most runners would use when playing on nestopia
- same as periwinkle's answer
- there's a google sheet in the Resouces section of the leaderboard called BBG setups. the usual delay is -7.12 (11 fr from the start)
- u can get 4:57 with 2 frame walljump
- if u plan to incorporate blazit in your runs, rule of thumb is that u have to be pushed enough into the wall in two A presses. you can save the optimal frame rule even with a forwards jump into the pipe leading to the warp zone
- Kosmic's any% tutorial covers the former. what i can say though is that for the star block, usually when the block disappears for a frame as you hit and you can see the star behind it before it comes out, that's a good sign that you saved bad judges
