Well if the game is tracked via IGT that makes sense in not on why it resets the so called in game timer to the last time of the save. But it seems like Hardcore tracks the time even if you have to continue from the last save, so while loading probably should not be allowed, I don't see why saving and then allowing continues should not be.
The only time that the game seems to not be counting IGT is if you actually Force Pause the game. I also do not think its as common knowledge as you imply it to be, as it seems many games and communities have a different approach to what they consider single segment to be. My understanding is that is a single recording in its entirety of the actual run from start to finish, so any time wasted between is time lost not gained. I don't see where continuing would give you an advantage if its the same file you created during the run.
But like I said i think continuing since it does not reset the IGT should be fine with the making saves since it costs you time to even do it.
probably just a lost cause in my case so i'll just skip the series and this game all together, but Good Luck to those that do run the game. All i can say is Hardcore is rough enough as is the fact If I wanted to speedrun it I cannot save so if for w.e i die and need to reset is just silly if its tracking in game stats like total time played and deaths/continues etc.
So my question and possible issue with the current purposed rules is that while a run should all be in a single uncut submission I do not agree or like the fact that Saving and Loading the saved file is not currently allowed.
I have yet to even play the game nor have run a RE game before but so long as saving and then loading a file created during the run, so long as its not any other file should be fine in the sense.
In most cases for many games having this as an option will cost players time regardless but for newer runners or less experienced runners like myself with the game, it at least allows us to have some sense of a run/progress rather then die and have to reset due to taking a death or some other issue like a crash.
This is a big part to why i have not wanted to even bother speedrunning most other games with these kinds or strict stipulations in the past.
I'm Curious if anything at this point because I have been going through the Series of games over the last several months and have thought about doing runs of the many games but these kinds of restrictions hamper my desire to even bother learning the games.
If this is relevant at all I play pretty much all games off console, as well as RE2 when I do get around to it now that I have it.
Non supers have the same privileges aside from adding or removing mods.
Most likely due to inadequate information provided. You would need to submit a run that you have record of you doing the run, and a proper explanation and description of the game and what the speedruns are/could be like. Also there does not need to be a reason given for the rejection, if a reason is provided there is usually a specific reason as to why. But seeing as no reason was given tells me it was a poor effort for a submission in the first place.
You can always try and submit it again with a better recorded run, as well as better information about the game and the speedruns.
All players are required to be playing a new game/newly created character at the time of the run. And video proof of the others players is required from their perspectives.
It would be rather silly if no one else used new characters, and against the point of proofed runs if no one had verifiable video that they did the run properly, its also good practice and should be suggested that everyone have a recording of a run from their perspective.
If you have other questions or the likes you can join the Discord which is active in all forms of Monster Hunter Speedrunning.
@PiggyBow mod was on a month ago, have you tried contacting them at all?
I long while back I was working on some stuff possibly some new tech i was messing around with but never bothered to submit runs to the board since the rules were kinda jank.
@ZeldaCrasher 2 weeks is not really considered Inactive yet, You also have not run them game your self or do you have a pending run? In any likely hood it would probably be better if the current and sole runner on the board takes over if they are inactive. The fact that the current mod has no contacts at all is odd, but have you tried posting in the forums of the game? Moderators generally receive notifications if people post. Hopefully this gets resolved.
CoDWW2 Mod was last online 2 days ago, so it would be best to contact them first if possible before requesting here. As for the other mod for CoDIW contact them as well, they have not been on for some time. Hopefully the Site Mods can help you out.
Rules to when Time Stops have been changed for the following Categories, Along with some re-clarifications and wording adjustments that were long overdue.
Any% New Game+ True Ending.
Time no longer stops on the final save for Any% and NG+, Time no longer stops on Title/Main Screen for True Ending.
Instead they stop after you have confirmed your chosen name for the run file, In which the Cutscenes immediately start then followed by credits etc.
You will still need to show the Last Save for Any% and NG+, True Ending will still need to show up till the Title/Main Screen appears.
I have personally adjusted all RTA runs to accommodate for this change which means I have re-verified all the recent runs. If you have any concerns regarding these changes please let my self or Dale, best place to reach us or others is in the NieR Speedrun Discord: https://discord.gg/NU3M8sC
I do keep an eye on SRDC from time to time as always and my twitter so those are also options. <3 Stay Sexy ~ MASH
pretty sure pulling teeth is far worse then waiting or maybe contacting the mods directly if need be, or better yet offer help and work with them so its not an issue in the future and make things better for everyone. All depends of the people, and we are only human flawed and helpless to the mercy of ourselves and life its self.
I know thosecrazyguys still actively runs the game so if another mod is needed for sunset overdrive perhaps contact him.
You will need to check with the community boards for those games on what they accept as minimum requirements for such, generally if its watchable and meets the requirements set then there should be no issues, so just ask the mods of the board if there is no such listed minimum requirements or forms of acceptable standards listed.
@L-Roy , @Cyberdemon531 is active and has contacts use them if needed. If the run was submitted less then a a week or 2 ago give it some time to be reviewed. This thread is a last resort if mods are inactive past 3 weeks or longer.
TBH regardless of the original topic in regards to that run I would have rejected it for the annoying audio and the Overlay, to me it just looks like a bad quality submission so that would have been enough for me to ask them to resubmit with changes being made to mute the audio and cover/crop out the overlay.
Should be discussed int he games forums, also this topic was posted twice. Contact the people in charge of the game first off if need be as well, not public as such.
Content mods are doing what they are suppose to be doing which is quality control on submissions and games, not every game will get a board nor would deserve a board in most cases because. If they allowed every game submission that met the minimum requirements then we would have even more dead boards and games that are not really doing much or anything at all past that point as well as taking up space on the site which keep in mind is maintained by PAC and the Mods on their own time.
Now that being said in the future if there is maybe more interest and people that have gotten together for said game and at that point their is things going on for it outside SRDC then maybe you could resubmit it, keep in mind when making submissions many of the games that they look at they know nothing about so if there is not enough information provided or shown about the submission that would seem like there is potential for a board then they would most likely add it provided its not another generic style game that have been lately Visual Novels(Which to myself are not even games), Mobile Game(Which are just ludicrously over done and mind-numbing), Flash Game(Too many generic fan made games these days.) just to name a few kinds of games that will be under more scrutiny then normal.
Hopefully this is understandable.
As someone whos kinda outside on this I can understand and agree with the actions taken by the mods in regard to the submission when it comes to acceptance of runs the very end of the video put the nail in the coffin, and had I had someone submitted a run like that I would have told them to redo it with cleaner language or mute the audio. It just doesnt look like any effort was put into the run, so If the mods deemed it not suitable then thats that. do a better run and resubmit if it matters that much.
@hero_82 This was already addressed before hand and even more so in this recent thread post. https://www.speedrun.com/sotn/thread/istzr
