Hey, I recently started running Gargoyles Quest, I was wondering if you guys had any tips for a new runner like me.

This game is over an hour, so if that is not up your alley but like the style, you can try another game by E Hashimoto which is Buster. This was ran at AGDQ 2016 by bjw. Another game is Nysa which as far as I am aware doesn't have any speedruns but has been designed around speedrunning.

There is a glitch which involves an ice block sliding in the opposite direction to how you pushed it.

In order to get the glitch to work, when you push the block, pause a few frames before it hits anything and stops moving. By pausing (Either through Save or Main Menu) the block will slide in the opposite direction.

In theory, it is possible to clip through objects, but this needs to be tested to see if it is worth doing in a run.

For people that are starting out, you may wonder what is meant by timer starts are new game or new data.

Basically by selecting "New Data" you skip a small cutscene before movement. New game means you will see the cutscene. New Data saves a few frames. There is no in game way to delete the game so you have to delete via file explorer.

Almost all runs except Any% no S&Q will feature S&Q. When you save the game and reset. When you load the save you will be at the entrance to that room. The game notes where you entered the room from and that is where you will return to. This is good in rooms which have keys or spirits.
