About Glitches

a. Forbidden (avaliable for "Any Glitches" category in full game):

  1. Teleport - allows you to skip whole levels.
  2. Breakdance - allows you to skip large parts of levels, missed entire fortress Shalatuvar, in addition, it is very difficult to control because of randomness.
  3. Flying (Airclimbing, Airsinking, Straight movement through air) - allows you to overcome large distances, to do them it is enough to be on any ledge, which are on each level. Abusing it makes many glitches pointless.

b. Allowable (not available for 100% category):

  1. Clipping through gratings (also with help of a stool or u-turn).
  2. Surviving a fall (сancelling the death animation after a fatal landing).
  3. Running up a slope (zipping up).
  4. Sliding down (zipping down) (also with clipping through texture).
  5. Moving stool to another level.
  6. Saving potions by saving/loading.
  7. Killing enemies through a door or grating.
  8. Teleportation through doors (freeze clip) (Only for SNEG (Steam/GOG)).
  9. Entering areas with "frozen" enemies (this is possible if you climb the ledges and skip the part of the level with important triggers). etc.

c. Combat Glitches (available for 100% category):

  1. Reducing combos (using a overenergy attack by blocking animation reduction).
  2. Memorizing a combination using a block and completing it at any time. Think of them as a feature rather than a bugs.

Attack cancellation This one should be called attack blocking and I don't consider this particular one a glitch. Let me explain why - there are two reasons for it:

  1. It uses all energy required to perform attack and blocking it "half way" will not reduce in a slightest.
  2. Attack animation smoothly and seamlessly move to next stage/move. This indicates it was a meant to be a feature rather than glitch.

It is not true for combo reduction with jump which cancels it abruptly and goes with new animation. This one is a glitch which is unintended and unfair as it allows to use weapon/ combo without required energy.

Climbing a ledge with a stool

It is not a glitch, it's a feature. One can step on furniture of most kind and stool is only one of them. There is nothing glitchy in stepping on stool. It's not players fault they didn't foresee using it to climb on otherwise unreachable ledges.

Clipping through ... is physics glitch. There is not physics in the world that would allow you to go through the doors, gratings or bars.

Running up a slope (zipping up).

It's a physics glitch. There is no way you would normally could run on 80 dergee slope.

Surviving a fall (landing)

What exactly do you mean? One can fall up to 14 meters - that's in the game.

If you mean this new technique of surviving fall after death animation - it's a glitch, and a biiig one.

First of all, the old category "No Physics Glitches" has been changed to "Allowable Glitches". If you want we can create a "Glitchless" category and I already thought about that but there is already much work to fill the leaderboard currently.

I agree that glitchless category is only fair for those who want to not use gallery of glitches game "offers".

@c13ply, could you please check the spreadsheet that I've created based on current runs in 'Allowed glitches' category and used skips/glitches/tricks comparison. I've shared it with other runners and it would be great to create some finalized list of things that are allowed in particular category, with examples. Also, I've placed there an uncategorized glitches/tricks that were used - could you please suggest which category it could be referred to from your point of view?

@c13ply

"Attack cancellation" - when applied to an attack it really doesn't look like a glitch, but when you press the block during the first character fatigue it looks like a glitch.

"Climbing a ledge with a stool" - I wrote that it is not a glitch.

We removed the "No Physics Glitches" category, and divided the glitches not by "No Physics / Physics", but rather by their effectiveness.

Edited the glitches, removed attack cancellation from the glitches.

Well, one does not exclude the other. Indeed, when it comes to clumsy animation it can recover you form it. That would be taking advantage of a glitch.

You can try fix it here, or identify where the problem lies.

Also what about this one /@30s/? I am not sure whether it is glitch or not.

For me, I think it is because you go through it even if collisions are checked.

Hi, c13ply. I think it's: 4. Sliding down (zipping down) (also with clipping through texture).

Allowable glitches no. 9 says:

9. Entering areas with "frozen" enemies

That's not good as it forbids to do skips in glitchless run. For example in Marakamda it is possible to skip everything and rush to the final (little) demon but it's not possible to avoid areas with frozen enemies (for example underground).

I think it should be relaxed and dissallowed to damage or kill frozen enemies (for glitchless). If one doesn't use glitch to skip, for example with a stool or climb, they should be able to do so.
