Notes on minigames

Boxing: This is as terrible as it looks, but at least it's not random. The layout is the same every time. You need to finish it during the 3rd round for maximum payout ($800). It's pretty fast if you don't fall.

Hospital: This is probably worse than it looks. If you crash at all you're losing money, and especially for the WR route any crash means the run is ruined. The strategy doesn't feel reliable at all, but do your best I guess. If you're not doing RNG manip then this is a good minigame.

Waiters: Pretty worthless minigame. Here's how the controls work because they're stupid: If you're not holding a button, then hitting up, right, or down will make the top, middle, and bottom stooge (respectively) duck. If you're holding a button, then hitting up, right, down will makes them throw a pie. Even if you avoid everything, the time will just end and you can get like $500. Pretty slow.

Cracker: This is frankly terrifying. Once you're down to getting bowls of 1 cracker, then each one you get gives you $60. You can go infinite if you never miss this last one. $60 every ~4 seconds = $900 per minute. That said, it's basically impossible to do this, you can't miss at all and the control is terrible.

Notes on RNG Manipulation

The RNG of the game is almost entirely manipulatable with some caveats. First of all, if you hold A at the start of the game, then it seems like the RNG seed you get will be the same regardless of whether you're on console or on emulator (note: I haven't tried with a real cart, only everdrive, so that might also be different). However, if you try to get one of the other seeds that involves delaying slightly before starting the game (like the ones the WR goes for), then it seems like it works every time on emulator, but on console it's wildly inconsistent. I'm not really sure the reason. The target seed still exists, but it would take lots and lots of tries to get it.

If you want to try doing an RNG manipulated run, keep these in mind:

  • I don't claim that any of the routes in this guide are remotely optimized. Feel free to try to find a different route/seed. It takes a lot of brute force to find a good one.
  • Make sure you're holding A as often as possible during screen transitions. If you let up at all and lose any frames, then the RNG is ruined. This even includes parts where it doesn't feel like the game is prompting you to hit A (like after you are awarded money, when it's describing the minigame, etc). The only times you shouldn't be holding A are if you're doing the boxing/trivia minigames, or the pointer/game select shuffler is activated.
  • The Cracker, Waiters, and Hospital minigames all ruin the RNG. However, the hospital one is very good for money, so it might be worth doing anyway near the end of the run.

0 frame reliable/marathon route (about 5 minutes): 7, boxing ($800) 1, boxing ($1600) 1, mousetrap 8, money ($2000) 7, trivia (CBC) ($2600) 0, question mark ($2900) 2, trivia (CAC)($3500) 3, boxing ($4300) 6, mousetrap 7, money ($5050) 9, mousetrap (you can just hold A for this, don't need to time it) 7, mousetrap

1 frame WR route: 9, mousetrap 3, fleecem waste of time 9, boxing ($800) 2, money ($1800) 7, trivia (CAC) ($2400) 6, mousetrap 9, mousetrap 2, question mark ($3400) 6, trivia (CAB) ($4000) 6, doctor ($5000+), but this kills the RNG, you need to either react (which is like impossible because the cursor moves so fast), or just hold the A button for "epic yolo stratz" and hope it lands on a mousetrap
