Start a fresh game and collect the page in stage one. Then collect all items in the second level but collect the item on the crate obstacle course last. What you want to do is collect the last item and then jump into the spikes before you get sent to the next stage (The time frame is pretty generous). Once you die quit and go back to the title screen. For some odd reason if you start a new game the game will think you've already collected the note in stage one and on stage two, it thinks that you just collected the last item so it teleports you to the next level. This is the only real trick in this game that saves time so it's practically mandatory to use if you're going for a competitive time unless another trick like this is found.
