Addams Family (SNES) - Furnace Clip / Family Skip

How to do the clip:

  1. Get two speed shoes (double speed upgrade) - available in the hidden door in the bottom left of the Hall of Stairs
  2. Enter the Furnace from Granny's Stove
  3. Run toward the top right corner of the room, jumping to hit your head where the ceiling and wall meet once you've reached max speed
  4. Press (and hold, optionally) left sometime between jumping and hitting the wall, such that you hit the wall facing away from it

If you had enough speed and you jumped far enough into the wall, the game will try to eject you the opposite direction to the one you are facing, which happens to be into the wall, which will zip you up.

  1. Gomez will appear at the bottom of the screen (he's actually at the top)
  2. Hold left to run to the center of the room to activate the loading zone into the chain room.

Observations I have made:

  1. Occasionally, you will get "momentum glitched", where as you run toward the wall, for seemingly no reason, Gomez will lose his momentum. This makes the clip nearly impossible.
  2. For some reason, if you enter the furnace and land directly on the platform, your first attempt will NEVER get momentum glitched. This makes your first attempt your most likely opportunity to get the clip.
  3. Using L/R to edge toward the end of the platform helps give you adequate room to do the clip. I try to line up the edge of the platform with the center of Gomez's shoe closest to the viewer.
  4. If you edge too far and stand on the last pixel of the platform, the camera becomes glitched and attempts to move up beyond the edge of the stage when you jump. This causes momentum glitch 100% of the time and can only be fixed by jumping down and back up to the platform.
  5. There doesn't seem to be any benefit to holding versus tapping left when doing the jump as far as the clip is concerned, and holding left helps to setup for further attempts, so holding left is preferred.
  6. Clip is stupid.
