Question about PAL

Hey,

Unfortunately, it's just due to the fact that it keeps all runs consistent across all regions. From what a couple of us have observed, Tekken 5 may include some artificial speedup features in PAL50 that make it as fast as PAL60 if not faster, despite the lower frame-rate. I haven't looked too deeply into PAL50, but from what I've observed in the past, the fact I couldn't tell the difference in speed between PAL50 and PAL60 in Tekken 5 scared me because the difference is usually obvious. That's why I was worried they tried to artificially speed PAL50 up which can cause gameplay issues and glitches for some PAL games (e.g. Crash Bandicoot 2 has PAL-only glitches), so my ideology was that by prohibiting PAL50, every region would be playing an identical version of the game. I didn't expect anybody at this point in time to be unable to capture 60Hz gameplay, sorry.

I have taken a quick look online and I did see there are apparently ways to record in PAL60 with your capture card which might be worth trying if you haven't already. If PAL50 is simply just 'slower' than PAL60 then I'd allow it no question because anyone who runs on it would just be at an inherent disadvantage anyway, but the fact the gameplay speed looks identical to me makes me cautious.

In regard to what both of you said. I say, let PAL50 runs be accepted and in case of dispute, downgrade PAL50 run. Which is unlikely anyway, as there arent many runs and issue is prolly in PAL60 favor. In addition, runner could add in the description that submited run is as such. Other thing is that old signals (like PAL) automatically will have videos quality downgraded, due to interlace thing in the analogue signal and others. Personally, I would wish everything preserving quality every way possible. Not by high resolution alone, as i'm considering it different thing.
