I did update the current WR since it was beat by the same guy whom previously held it - should be a legit run but I would be unable to tell.
I do need to test out the game a bit more to determine when character control is lost for timer to stop for defining rules, but at some point - even the current WR should be re-timed as such. He seemingly starts timer upon character control, but timer should be including stage select as you have control during that portion already.
Cant get ahold of Rantron for The Mask. SRC inactivity for 18 days, no responses on twitch or discord. I know the guy moderates a ton of games and I would rather see someone else take his place to lighten the burden if possible (i dont have myself in mind for this though). There's an improved WR time by the current WR holder that was set years ago and should be added, likewise I've wanted to discuss defining rules for the game. I know its adviced to also create a forum thread on the game page itself before resorting to this page, but near 3w inactivity and no responses on discord/twitch will hopefully be enough to have someone look into this.

Improved WR:
Ya im having the same issue (using google chrome). The play console disappears for twitch vods when I try to view runs. If I manually go into runners profile and open their twitch account, looking up the video myself - it works perfectly.
Can't watch it from SRC somehow though.
I mean its pretty common sense. Imagine emulating an actual NES controller. Dont use turbo buttons and dont bind keys so 1 key = A+B+up+Select or anything an actual NES controller can't do in real life

I'm happy to see that this community really blew up since last time I checked! With McFly breaking every record in the book, SummoningSalt covering the WR history, RGR featuring this game in their races, ONOT was held on RGL and man the new faces and progression from runners - including Kraid first runs! With plenty of new resources to learn from, its finally time for me to pick this game up, happy I made the decision to wait with it - there's never been a more active metroid community than now and ive improved as a runner since I asked questions last year :P

Got notifications back, but im still getting white pages quite frequently.
I can confirm, not getting any notifications since 2-3 days back from any game I'm following. Likewise, sometimes when I visit a games page, the background is missing and is completely white instead. Using Chrome as a browser. I know @Sathdresh and @strizer86 have had issues as well.

Their solution would be to create 3 new game boards? If people are so against having All-Star runs under All-Stars, Id rather keep it as it is rather than creating 3 new game pages in need for moderation. I may have misunderstood what they meant there, but I'd have to put my foot down for that personally.
I will say 1 thing about SMB1 boards though, all-stars is put under misc. Maybe that could be an option, and take out the ACTUAL smb2 nes categories under a new tab?
The leaderboard could use some work for sure, I think "Any% 1 character" with sub categories would be better than what we have today. I also personally would rather have all-star categories on the all-star board, its a bit annoying to get notifications for times I dont care about when im here for the NES game only..
But I leave that to the mods

I disagree with the idea of VC by default being split into emu, thats not what this topic is about skavenger. Thats prob how you can classify the idea of VirtualConsole per se, but in practice for speedrunning - the difference is severe.
I wanna hear other peoples thoughts on the matter though, as we've already had our discussion :P

There is seemingly half a minute disadvantage to emu runners compared to VC runners. Yet they are sharing the same leaderboards despite moderators being aware of this dilemma.
I've tried and failed to convince them to split them apart into 2 sub-categories. One for WiiVC, the other for EMU.
So it will fall upon the community of existing runners and potential future ones to make a voice heard in an attempt to change the mind of the administration for this game.
I myself find it obnoxious to keep them together when the issue is known.
I dont personally care about Low% - its a small community and a very meme category, I dont PERSONALLY need to see it displayed. But if someone all of a sudden were to give a shit and wants to run it then whom am I to say "F that!" ? If someone really wants to then I'd just put it under misc. Generally speaking though, any% and 100% is enough for "main" categories - and even those we have trouble filling up with runners as it is..
As for RTA 100% - Im not familiar with the run in that great of a detail atm so right now im not the best person to speak about it. But I think everyone should include RTA in modern speedrunning nonetheless, we dont live in the jurassic era anymore. It's also a good precaution on the off chance we might switch to it as main timer in the distant future once more runners pour in - you never know. Either way I don't think its much effort for anyone wanting to run the game to actually include a timer - Potato PC users or lazy asses might complain. Its not like RTA timer is required for Lament of Innocence that im currently running, but I'm still using it and submitting my RTA time even though IGT is the main for that title.
Shame that it has to come to this, I've never seen anything like it through the communities i've been part of for a year of running so far. I'm greatful we had maxy for this one, willing to fight for what I believe was the just cause. Likewise ROMaster2: Much appreciated you took the time to deal with this <3

Ya thats fair, he's likely talking about me. GUILTY! I am in the process of learning Lament of Innocence for PS2 which is my first 3D title, I have my eyes set on DMC1 afterwards and started asking questions in discord already. Give it 2-3 months and you'll prob see my name on the board. But sure, I can understand how that may come off as ignorant from my side - fair game.
