I think the current WR on NES definitely does more than 4... you can skip the last 2 ranks in it but it's random each time at the end whether you get the king quest or another one. I think both Gilmok and I had decided to reset if we got a bad one there... which I don't think he needed to (I know I had to in at least one attempt, but cannot recall if it was my current pb). I don't know if it's the exact same on MSDOS or not... only know about this precisely in the NES version because Gilmok cracked the game to learn it.
Even so, we have variables attached for each individual platform so that each one has its own leaderboard for each category.
I think I went to them first to ask for them to make it and they said it didn't fit or something... I don't remember anymore and my message history seems half-deleted now :(
I only had success against the "weaker" daimyo when it came to that, and it took me a lot of labbing to figure out amounts that seemed to always work without bankrupting me. I never got it to work on Oda or Takeda etc... so I wonder if anybody will ever get it in a human run.
If anybody is interested in different types of categories or whatever for this, hit me up. I was under the impression that the full game here isn't really speedrunnable due to absolutely massive length but I could be wrong :)
Ok, done. I think I edited your times in correctly but if I didn't, resubmit or let me know.
I went ahead and updated the board to add an Atari 2600 category. It's simple enough to do, and will add other game categories as people request.
And apologies for the late response; src apparently doesn't notify me about forum posts in games I mod... may have to fix that :)
nah it pops up in-between levels on occasion
With the submission of a non-NES run (my own), I took the liberty of establishing sub-categories for each full category for a few of the potential systems (ones I think most likely to get some action). If someone ever wants to submit a run for a game system not represented, we can add another one at that time.
Hello! Would it be possible to create a Colecovision variable of this game so that I could submit a speedrun for this? It appears to be a lot faster than the Atari2600, so just submitting it in the same category wouldn't be terribly appealing.
Here is my vod doing the 5k points version. I have a 10k points version as well but haven't got around to getting that uploaded.
You know, it's been 10 months when I asked about this, and I went into the discord and talked to you guys, but nobody ever made a Colecovision category. I believe I gave you everything you had asked for and I think I just got tired of bringing it up and left the thing. But I guess I am asking again if that could be possible? The timing rules should be the same as the SNES version.
Thank you :)
Another thought: the somewhat-lengthy titles for the two categories exist because initially it was just "any% (level 9)" but I thought a shorter one would be more appealing for the higher difficulties. Then I wasn't sure how to define them... any% as level 3 and 100% as level 9 made some sense, but there's no actual "end" to the game so anything seems rough I guess. If you have any thoughts about it, feel free to share :)
Ok I just threw up two categories for it. I forgot the variables for difficulty were already in there, so this made more sense (and doesn't require me doing any research, lol). Also added Intellivision as an option for console. I'll do arcade if/when there's runs, too.
Sure! Should be up in the next day; need to take a moment to remind myself how to add in variables :)
Wow he got this run on the FIRST TRY after legend sword skip... what a legend. Bet it won't take over a year and a half for him to even get close to this again!
If this run is still on the boards in another month I will be FURIOUS
