There is no problem with xdelta. Xdelta is a command line program. Do you know how to use command line programs?

The error messages say that the patch files are not there, so xdelta cannot patch using non-existent patch files.

Re-install your game, follow the instructions from the readme.txt and you will be fine.

I wonder how the batch script got so far, I mean, it checks if there is gta-vc.exe and the folder with the patch files in the current directory (the one you double-clicked the file in).

Also, why are there 5 xdelta "file not found" messages one aftee the other when it is supposed to be the move command nkt finding the file, then xdelta and then del...

Cavaillon, maybe your problem is due to some of the files and folders being opened somewhere which makes them seem non-existent - I had that problem using some linux ports and/or cygwin, iirc.

Btw, dismissing advice or support is not nice. You can try the advice or ask questions but dismissing it ... It is also in your best interest, since you don't want to discourage people from helping you in the future.

My video is obsoleted by this good method and it does not explain holding calls. Tduva's video explains it for SA. Just read all the text in the video and watch the input display. Also, there is a difference between VC and SA: use the radio button instead of "Alt. Fire".

You can try this: You can dupe Explosive Situation and then for Cop Wheels duping, you let go off shift during the 500ms fade when the mission text still shows. What happens is that duped ExplSitu gives you two "Heist starter threads". Therefore, if you set om to 0 in the time span I mentioned, the secons Heist starter also starts an instance.

I raised this topic on IRC and these are the things I read and some speculations from myself. TL;DR is: try this strat with a ridiculously slow hard drive or on PS2. The speed of your storage device (hard drive) might make a difference, since when you load, all models are unloaded and slow storage means that new models load slower - probably. ¤

The line of reasoning goes like this:

  • for a car to spawn, it's model has to be loaded -> the more cars are loaded, the wider the variaty of cars that can be spawned is
  • after loading the game, only the cop car model is loaded - so only a cop car can be spawned
  • the shorter it takes for more models to load, the faster it can spawn many different cars, therefore, the less likely it is to get a cop car
  • the faster the storage device, the faster the models are loaded

Ractrot says that the precise frame you save and/or the precise frame you load might make a difference. My blind guess is that if that is true, if you save at the right time then you get a cop car every single time you re-load the save. ^^ Frame perfect strats. :D That might be the reason for the difference between your result and other people's - if you did not start from a new game.

¤ I say that based on experience by Powdinet in III, by myself in SA (saving and reloading to get a cop bike) and because Nick knows that on "New Game" only the cop car model is loaded.

Reset, our setups are one frame apart. :O Which is within the margin of error.

I test using SKeys to display input and the quarry text shows as soon as player_can_start_mission is true - I verified that with scrlog. I still get variance of one frame or so, though. The problem testing it with LD is the 250ms check cycle.

My setup also involves the shotgun: one roll, one shot. I use holding and letting go off LMB so that it buffers the input for consistent timing.

The "get him to the hospital" line is the longest that still gives enough time to get to the marker, afaik. I need to verify. So we should skip that line by "taking" the call instead of gaining control asap.

Black Project can be duped without Quarry. It seems consistent to me, but that might turn out to be wrong, ofc.

It is simple if you know how to do it, but still, you should skim this post.

That should allow doing this step 1) dupe FIAB step 2) get om0 call Some video of the following steps: step 3) start Madd Dogg. You don't want the call to count as taken, so you let go off shift during the 500ms fade between being inside the mission marker and the intro cutscene starting. After the cutscene you shoot and now you can press F if you want to, shooting "invalidates" taking the call. While waiting for Madd Dogg to jump, hold the call - preferably just before getting into your car so that the stats aren't blocking your view. ^^ step 4) dupe Misappropriation I did not dupe inside the cutscene to show that this is possible in case you need the call for later - which is not the case in this route. I also showed that one Misappropriation instance remains when dying during duped Misappropriation. step 5) get another om0 call from duped Misappropriation Post by Mew: http://www.speedrun.com/post/5bk0s step 6) dupe BP with that call

The BP Dupe So you hold the om0 call. The way it works is that you use a method where there is a gap between both mission instances being triggered (both intro cs being started) and in that gap you skip the cutscene. You have to follow these rules:

  1. Release shift during the cutscene, not the 500ms fade before the cutscene: If you release shift during that 500ms fade thing, the second BP instance starts almost immediately after om is set to 0 (after pressing F).
  2. Now, wait for 2s. Probably the game waits because of the "taking out phone" animation.
  3. Hold F. OM=0 but the "put phone away" animation blocks mission starts. A tiny bit¤ later skip the cutscene while still holding F ¤ 200ms up to 1sec or so?

3 demos in the YouTube video: Pay attention to me pressing F, LMB (skip), and the value of onmission in the cheat engine window. I messed up so that it is pixelated, but you can still read it. It is the number left to the input display. Success 1) I press F, 0.25s later LMB, works fine. Success 2) I press F, ages later LMB - still works fine. Do not let the cut in the video confuse you. ^^ Failure 1) I let go off shift during the 500ms fade before the mission starts. The second BP instance starts immediately after onmission turned 0.

A successful dupe can be verified by the armor being spawned twice. If you only get one, probably one of these two is true: Problem a) If om=0, then only one instance started. Problem b) If om=1, then one BP instance got stuck in the cutscene. I will refer to them later in the post.

And now some tips and stuff: 1) Problem a) from above (om0): Wait for another call, hold it, fail the mission by running away from Area 69 and try again.

If (in the cs near Area 51) you hear CJ-Truth dialogue, wait until The Truth drives away and skip the cutscene then. Else you either crash the game or softlock the mission - you cannot progress. In that case(softlock), fail it, dupe it again - just don't start it with Quarry running, that would crash the game in this case due to the goggles being loaded and therefore stuff and stuff.

I can sometimes skip the Truth-CJ cutscene early, I don't know if that was using my old duping method or not. Either way, it is good when it happens, no problem.

To fix Problem b) from above (om1), beat BP, afterwards get rid of the stuck BP instance by dying while holding a phone call (dying with om1). It may not say mission failed but it works. I have not tested this for this mission in particular but it should work.

Troubleshooting

  • why in Misappropriation sometimes no-one graps the "invisible" dossier and you fail
  • why calls are not received after ICK under some circumstances (can this one be ignored if a proper way or version or hardware or whatever to hold om0 call through ICK is found or people start using RSHIFT?)
  • the om0 call dropping thing when failing 8-track or passing ICK or Jizzy (or MCB? people haven't gone for that, yet - or Pier 69 for the TLF dupe)
  • why sometimes you cannot restart Learning to Fly by just holding S and have to hold D after noticing it hasn't started. Until it starts.

Setups

  • the best setup for starting LD a second time I can achieve

Documentation

  • updating duping doc on AHITH stuff
  • some mini-how-to of getting an om0 call through MCB

Tools

  • tool that requires little setup and allows the user to copy a part of SA into a RAMDisk and start the game with one click I'd copy everything but the audio, that's 1.4GB of the 4.6GB the game uses, I could make that configurable.   • finding SA instapasses that work on every single version of the game (I have not found any instapass for SA using any version, yet) that matters to me(PC non-steam)

If you want to set the affinity to one core permanently, install prio and then set it in the task manager.

If you run SA as admin, set AutoHotkey.exe to run as admin in the properties->compatibility or something

You need to set 2 things:

  1. the 2 affinities you want to toggle
  2. the hotkey used to toggle

1) set your affinities in the settings.ini: an example is: affinity1=1011 1 stands for used 0 stands for not used also it is right-to-left, so the right-most number stands for the first core (core 0, as the task manager calls it) 1011 therefore means: first core used second core used third core not used fourth core used.

2)Set your hotkey right-click-> edit the .ahk file search for and replace #t, keep the :: I have copied some documentation on hotkeys in the comment below that.

Regarding the VB skip, it is pointless. Setting up the HC dupe in order to dupe B Dup takes forever and even if the 8-track setup worked, it would still be close.

30s is false. I do not see the problem with reading that comparison post, tell me, please.

Is the structure unclear? What italic and underlined text mean, the annotation brackets, that the times stand before the descriptions, which times need to be added together?

Haha, I see. The only non-mission-threads from the main.scm that change ped or traffic density are COKEC (cesar drugs), BBALL and CARMOD. COKEC is disabled by toreno_total_passed_missions = 10, BBALL seems to be disabled when starting B Dup or sth along those lines. I had to use a fix to have it available in the first place. I had to set $1928 (address a4b780 on v1) from 1 to 0. CARMOD works but is slow. So, RIP VB skip. Well, it will not be missed, I think, it is a nice mission if you can actually play it. :D

I have edited my post to be more readable. It's useless, but I did not believe you with the B Dup thing, I guess. :P

Edit: the ZERO1 script does not look like it should set max_wanted_level to 0 permanently. It does not touch it, even. It just sets sensitivity_to_crime to 0.001 - that should have been reset by mission cleanup on mission failure, I don't know what happened there.

Hmm, this dupe is way less useful than I thought. It is uncertain if it is faster than doing VB without getting the Ranch minigun... Someone good needs to time it.

How much time does duped ahith cost? If you don't dupe AHITH, then

  1. you fly the direct way airport -> casino and start AHITH once.
  2. you get the om0 call with bike school after VB. If you dupe AHITH, then
  3. you take a detour to bike school between SMB and AHITH and start AHITH 2x.
  4. you get the om0 call with 8track after Home Coming. SMB, AHITH without duping 0:27 : SMB -> AHITH [5] 0:21 : AHITH start -> AHITH skydive part [6] in total: 0:48

"vertical bird skip" Hypothetical, right? I am not sure if I have tested every mission - maybe you can use some Burglary fading wait or something else to get two proper AHITH instances like with Quarry&BP. I only tested the obvious things - iirc - and maybe I missed something even with those.

Haha, that's a cool setup. Something like "fire x shots after that audio cue" should be simpler, I think. Even if it is not, it does not risk "instacycling" - that the mission starts instantly after the door closing.

I know that the ak has different gaps between shots (2 - 3 of "pause" between every time he shoots), but maybe they even out. That would be good. Or use the shotgun or missiles or anything.

What I would check - if I could - is if the audio is indeed the only thing that matters (maybe other things determine when the cs ends). That is very likely but unproven.

I did not understand how respawning the low-rider works, can you explain, please?

There is some mystery strat in the special vehicles community where you just park your car on some guy in Mountain Cloud Boys and when entering the tuning shop he dies - afaik, the reason is unknown, so you could test if it works with that guy and the house.

Edit: the last part of the mission is "wait until timera reaches 3000ms, then jump to mission passed", but there is a progress_variable that has to be equal to 4 for that to be executed. Since, afaik, all variables are set to 0 when mission starting, if you restart the mission before the timer is at 3000ms, it does not work. The missions starts after the 500ms fade (with the "Los Desperados" printed on the screen after entering the marker. The mission has to finish in that time, if it finishes too early, it does not start LD since riot_total_passed_missions does not equal 2 but 3. After the fade, it cannot pass anymore and you get two LD instances.

The LD marker is checked every 250 ms, so in that light, this thing seems quite precise to me... But with reference points and practice, it should be 99% consistent. I feel I must have made a mistake, though. Is it really that precise?

EOTL2 has checkpoints you have to pass, skips are impossible.

IIRC, you need 2-3 golds in Driving School which takes about 1 minute. You can do that afer Yay, I guess. Re-loading resets driving skill xp (progress to the "level up") so that is not a nice strat but should be faster.

I did some guessing and came up with roughly 5 minutes saved, so that's nice. ^^

For context, I originally said something like "I have little motivation to check if my version fixes your problems since I think you are exaggerating them".

I did not mean to cause that much offense, so I'm sorry for that. I just said what I thought. And I guess I was that harsh because I put in work and you dismissed it in an unkind way. I guess that just ruined my apology...^^ That's the price for honesty... No, I do not feel all above you or "cool" or anything.

And another edit. On second thought, I did not really put in much effort in relating to your problem in that post. So that's a point against me. I have some more thoughts - but I know I cannot think about this objectively, now that it is personal.^^ That's just not how the mind is designed. So what shall I do - just stop thinking, I guess. :D I'm fine talking with you about this or just pretent nothing happened.

(right to shift, left to z) You could also use RShift for action. :D GL with the version thing, I only know of the 1.1 patch...

Edit: I just noticed that getting a new jump button into "muscle memory" is a problem. Also, I should know myself for other reasons. So I'll tell you about my results next weekend. If it works, I'll send you an iso. It likes to crash during Wear Flowers, don't know if it is due to hardware or sth else, like a scratch in the disc?

I'd personally have a Sanchez parked as well and get on and off to reset the timer for safety. ^^

Pussy strat 2.0: In the fareless setup, you get the hospital destination. Setup done. (read the post about fareless). I get one attempt every 3s once I get in the situation of getting the same fare every other time I start taxi (you see the destination, cancel and restart taxi twice and the guy who just got out of your taxi is your new fare). Just try it out to see what I mean.

In the Taxi part

  1. you record a 10min(dunno - more?)-into-the-future replay.
  2. You can glitch a taxi's passenger door and it will never despawn (except for save/load).
  3. You can then park it at the hospital

You cannot load without losing the taxi then, but mistakes become less costly: you set up a 10 min rampage replay. If you get om1 TbD, you just die, get into the taxi, start taxi. Since it is already at the hospital, you immediately get the fare progress and can get out of the taxi. Then you run to the Love Fist car and drive back to TbD, picking up weapons from Hyman Condo on the way for the next death. Repeat until you run out of time or get the 100 fares.
