Hi,
just want to make this Thread so we can collect all the bugs and glitsches you can discover while playing Loom.
So here is the first one:
Yes its lame and yes it does not affect your time in a speedrun, but this glitsch proves us wrong, because we thought there were none.
I am using the Amiga v1.2 (EGA) on WinUAE (Emulator), I am sure you can do this also on Dos.
So are there more?
Spoiler: Yes there are ;)
Yes collect all should definitly be a requierment. Thats the question we have to figure out.
I will rework my list for this purpose.
So you are on board with this?
edit reworked it. So some of them are not possible to do in the same game like the sword puzzle in the forge. But if we can agree on a total number it would be interessting to figure out the best route.
As you can see I also invested a lot of time into this game and tried to find out like everything.
This kind of list was in the first place part of my guide, but I was thinking: We only run Any% Loom but what if we also run 100% Loom? Like do all possible drafts for example :D Not like talking to everybody, clicking on everything (like the leaf) just draft as much as possible as fast as possible. (or do at least 30 different drafts such stuff) What do you think?
*I know if I want to I just can create it, who will stop me ;)
Alright I did watch it :)
Very well done, almost flawless. As you mentioned in the video it did not look to be that fast at the dragon, but ist was...so cool. Really appriciate the work you put into this.
At the weekend I will strike back, I still see a chance to beat you. I have to get right of my load times, that will save some time, also you did a couple of minor mistakes so there is still room for improvment. Nice to see copy protection on Dos (if we start the timer at the introscreen we also would save time. So in the end we start the timer the same time as in VGA if you will - just wanted to mention it) And I have some special tricks saved for the moment somebody took away my WR...be prepared ;) So high 23 is possible...I am sure - at least for you.
*We should make another thread for this
**I have an idea for another kind of category...follow me into my ohter thread about all the drafts :)
Thanks for almost mentioning my name in the video cheers
Hi,
There are several possiblities in the game to interact with the environment by using the different drafts. So here is a list with all of it.
1.Open = Open Egg (mandatory) 2.Open = Sky (mandatory) 3.Open = Cell door (mandatory) 4.Open = Cage door (mandatory) 5.Close = Rift1 (mandatory) 6.Close = Rift2 (mandatory) 7.Close = Rift3 (mandatory) 8.Close = Rift4 (mandatory) 9.Swan = Yourself (mandatory) 10.Nightvision = Tent (mandatory) 11.Nightvision = Cave (mandatory) 12.Dye = Dye Cloth (mandatory) 13.Dye = Sheeps (mandatory) 14.Straw = Dragons Lair (mandatory) 15.Straw =Gold in Tent (mandatory) 16.Twist = Sword in Forge (mandatory) 17.Untwist = Whirlwind (mandatory) 18,Untwist = Stairs (mandatory) 19.Camouflage = Workers (mandatory) 20.Terror = Sheperds (mandatory) 21.Terror = Dragon (mandatory) 22.Reflekt = Rusty (wake up) (mandatory) 23.Reflekt = Rusty (mandatory) 24.Heal = Rusty (mandatory) 25.Speak = Hetschel (mandatory) 26.Uncooked = Hetschel (mandatory) 27.Rift = Loom (mandatory) 28.Open = Clam (Optional) 29.Bleach = Tapestry (Optional) 30.Gold = Tent (Optional) 31.Not Sharp = Sword (Optional) 32.Sleep = Dragon (Optional) 33.Wake up = Rusty (Optional) 34.Heal = Sheperd (Optional) 35.Heal = Glassmakerdude (Optional) 36.Open = Grave1 (Optional) 37.Open = Grave2 (Optional) 38.Open = Grave3 (Optional) 39.Open = Forge Door (Optional) 40.Empty = Water (Optional) 41.Visible = Workers (Optional) 42.Dye = Sheep (Optional) 43.Straw in Gold = Dragon Lair (Optional) 44.Fill = Chalice (Optional) 45.Fill = Pile of Wood (Optional) 46.Gold = Cell (Optional) 47.?? 48.??
Hi
gratz for 2nd place and cool that you investigated more into this. I checked my run and it takes round about 34s to pass the hallways.
About your run, overall a good one and you used one trick I missed...until today :) I am sure you are aware where you lost the most time, so a high 25 should be possible. But there where also a lot of minor mistakes which also cost some seconds (skips, movement etc.)
So you are the only person in the universe who run the VGA and the EGA version of Loom - any thoughts?
Edit: I compared both runs and I start with almost 10s off (copy protection) I am catching up on you in the hallways and getting in front in the woods.
Hi, thanks.
I played this in my youth, coming back as an adult should be an interessting experience. Also I am more the Amiga-type-of-guy, so my selection range is a bit limited here.
I dont know when I start this project, but as soon as it goes I will inform you. When there is some run created we can talk about it.
Personally I use WInUAE for emulation and got other runs verfied using this tool, so it should also properly work for Indy4.
See ya.
alright I did made some changes, biggest one is properably the background images.
Dont know about the overall color theme?
Tools section should be completed now.
Okay so, then feel free to write down the rules and so on, there is nothing more to add from my side.
Yes it is ;)
Was just looking at all the options we have to more streamline the game, so is it okay for you when I adjust some settings or do you like to talk about them first.
Like Notification, Background Image, Ressources Folder and so on.
you can write me an email if you like (so we dont abuse the board for that stuff) milchtoast(at)hotmail(dot)com
Ah okay, thanks for figuring that out.
Is with save/without save in any kind also important? I would say without save, because its so short, but I dont know if it would make a difference - (will try)
Thats all I can think of for now.
I can check out the emulators, from my personal experience they are not very different in their options and emulation capabilities.
Personally I use WinUAE.
Btw: Do you know what this controll does, I could not figure out what effect it has? ALT i Reposition Instantly Source: http://www.lemonamiga.com/games/docs.php?id=1012
Hi good idea :)
-
Yes sounds logical (agreed)
-
Yes also makes sense (agreed)
-
Same on Amiga, I will check the differences if I run it on an A500,A1200,A2000 etc.
-
Starting and stopping timer: Start= After difficulty is chosen Stop= Last user input on staff to draft swan
Bugs and Glitsches should be allowed (are there any?)
Yeah mate we did it :)
Now also make me a moderator and we can rule over Loom for all eternity ;)
@Liv Wow thanks for the fast reply great (and solving the issue of course). Yes I will try to extend my contact information.
Have a nice day :)
Hi all,
I was noticing that this game is listed for the Amiga so it got my attention. But I was checking the rules and there is written that we need to run the CD-Version + ScummVM. Well that rule does not really apply to the Amiga, so what can we do? Can I still stick to the Amiga or do I have to go for ScummVM. I think the main difference about both games would be the voice samples.
Thanks
